A HEAVY SIGH ESCAPED from my lips as Cosmos told me the criminal was gone. There was no trace anywhere even the neighboring packs. Nothing.

I turned to look out into the misty clouds as thunder began to rake the kingdom grounds. It was growing darker by the second fueling my unspoken anger. My fingers raked through my hair trying to push away the stress I suddenly felt.

It was just gone, slipped right through the cracks of my fingers. It could be here now for all I know, invisible to the eye but not hidden from smell. That was the weakness I needed. I could smell it but no one else could.

I had asked Cosmos to smell out my gym and try to get a trace that way but nothing. Only I knew the addicting smell of the beast but even I could not find it.

It was gone. For now.

Whoever it was must have been spying on me, trying to find out my secrets or the secrets to the Kingdom. Trying to find a weakness and undermine me or overthrow me. They had to be. There was no way this being was driving me up the wall trying to play these games.

This being had to be powerful. It had to have been a witch who has been in the castle. It took a lot of strength and power to appear places let alone appear invisible to places that one has not seen with the eyes.

No one has seen my bed chambers except—.

"No one would dare to overthrow you my king. You are Death himself." Drakel's slimy voice growled within my mind. He was angry and so was I.

"Yes but someone is brave enough to sneak into the castle using magic. Whoever it is has balls and they will be caught."

"We must make an example out of them and behead them in front of the court. We must remain in power, my king."

"Yes, we must and we will."

But that smell, I couldn't get it out of my head. It smelled heavenly and compelling. It smelled like rain, flowers, and ecstasy. I needed to find it even if it took the entire kingdom.

"Dare I say, we should be prepared. Maybe it is a warning for attack." Cosmos suggested. A growl pierced through the air making his head bow immediately. Fanning away the smoke that wafted through my nose, I gracefully sat at my desk.

"Alert the council. There shall be a meeting held in two days time at noon. I won't stop until I find the culprit."

"As you wish my King." Cosmos turned to exit but paused and turned to glance back at me. "I forgot to mention, sister Circe will be in town next week. She wouldn't take no for an answer. She says she has a gift for you." I groaned as he exited.

Just great. The timing couldn't have been any more perfect. Except it wasn't.

Baby sister Circe was a doll but more so sinister than I liked to say. She was a baby when I killed my father making me to be her sole guardian.

I didn't need her coming at a time like this. A time so delicate. A time where the unknown has access to the castle. It wasn't safe no matter how scary little Circe was.

Two days past and I was awakened by the morning bells, ringing through out the castle. Awakening the wolves for mornings pasteries. Unlike myself I was excused from such matters being that the council meeting was happening.

I threw the warm covers, sliding to the edge of the bed. My feet were greeted with my fur coated black slippers as I went to sharpen my appearance. No one deserved to see a disheveled king. As did I not appreciate my appearance being out of place as well.
