"Yeah sure, but do we even have time to just be sitting around drinking coffee? I mean, what if someone needs us?" Maddox replied.
"Psh! That's your crazy talking! Literally no one gets killed here. We just play the game too safely. We're the strongest, fastest and the oldest. Now stop your whining and let's go!" Maxim grabbed Maddox by the wrist and ran out, jumping out of a window and pulling their hoods over their heads. They walked along, hand in hand, Maxim smiling the whole way, relaxing into a more feminine personality. Maddox could only smile at her sweet face, smiling up at him, and the sun highlighting her hair, making it look like spun gold. She had the personality of an angel, but acted like a demon. It didn't feel weird to be near a girl that wanted to be a guy in a gay relationship anymore. Maddox could only accept that fact. However, he had noticed that around him, Maxim acted more feminine and girly, laughing and smiling, blushing and giggling like a child, even the way she walked with a little hop and skip in her step was cute.At the cafe, they sat nearby a window in a booth seat. Maxim ordered a hot strawberry milk tea, and Maddox ordered a black coffee.
"Before you say anything, yeah I still order kid drinks. It's just how I am okay? I'm still a guy to you, right?" Maxim said.
"Maxim, you'll always be a guy to me. I guess sometimes I can't help but see you as ...effeminate." Maddox admitted.
She pouted. "You know you can just call me Max, right?" She made her voice a little deeper and rough to prove her point.
"Yeah, I know. Maxim just suits you. It's cute." Maddox replied."C-cute? Cute! As if!" She shouted, her voice reaching a girly note. She clapped her hand over her mouth and sat down again. "M-Maddox, just don't call me cute, okay?" She said in her deeper voice.
"I think it is cute though. I love you just the way you are, and I think that it's cute." Maddox replied, brushing Maxim's cheek with his fingertips, making her blush pink. He traced a heart on her cheek, and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Oh? What's this?" Maddox asked as he saw Maxim's ear.
It was ripped into a point at the tip, and her earlobes had a big chunk ripped out of it. "It's... Uhhh... Just a scar." Maxim said, whispering. "It's nothing. Really." She lightly touched the torn ear and shook in her seat, as if remembering some painful memory.
After some moments of silence, Maddox was about to speak, but Maxim piped in.
"My mom. When she found out that i wanted to be a guy, she slapped me, and I just happened to be wearing earrings at the time. She ripped out the lobe of my ear, and her big diamond wedding ring tore out the piece at the top of my ear. I got blood all over the floor and I screamed in pain. But she wouldn't help me. She hated me so much that she dragged me, ripping up my knees and out the doorway, she kicked me, literally, out the door. I'm kinda numb to pain now, and so it never hurts to kill anyone. I'm used to it. But that part of my story is for another day." Maxim turned her head to the side so that Maddox wouldn't see her tears falling like raindrops on a sorrowful day. "Sorry."Maddox stood up and sat beside Maxim in the small booth, the space between them becoming none. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and held her close to his chest. "It's okay to cry. Don't hold back, I'm here for you now. I'll always be here. No matter what."
"No matter what..." She repeated to herself, the flow of tears coming to a stop. "Even if I told you something weird?"
Maddox nodded. "Yes, even if you told me something weird. I'm not an overly judgmental person, you know."
Maxim blushed a little and looked down at her hot strawberry milk tea. "I think your...." She murmured the last part so quietly that Maddox couldn't hear it.
"What?"
"I said, I think your..." She said a bit louder this time, but still inaudible.
"I seriously can't hear you."
Maxim's blush was red by now. "I said that I think your chest is sexy!" She shouted. Luckily, there was only two others in the cafe, and the barista, who all turned to look at the couple.
Maddox turned his head to look at Maxim. Her head was down, and she was shrinking smaller and smaller into her seat. He leaned down and kissed her on the cheek, making her blush even more. "Sorry. I'm embarrassing, aren't I?"
Maddox took her hand and stood up, walking with her out of the cafe of judgment. "Never." He said, smiling at her.
