The following morning my mum came to wake me up before my alarm even had a chance to try and do so.
"morning sweetie" mum my said while smiling lightly and stroking my head. "we need to leave soon, you need to get ready now" she walked out of my room to let me get dressed. I didn't bother putting make up on to hide the bags under my eyes and threw on my green over sized jumper with a yellow vest underneath and my black ripped skinny jeans, I Dutch braided my hair, brushed my teeth, got my phone and went down to my mum, who was already sat by the door waiting to leave. I laughed at her as she looked like a dog desperate to go for a walk, i grapped my black vans and slipped them on along with my denim jacket and walked towards the garage with my mum, we got in the car, i sighed and stared out the window while listening to the radio until we parked up outside the doctors. "you ready?" my mum asked, probably sensing my fear as I opened the car door "i guess i have to be" i sighed and walked to the door.
We were sat in the waiting room for a total of two minutes before the nurse shouted my name for me to go to the examination room. I looked at my mum she smiled and took my hand before walking with me to the nurse, "hi Malia, i'm Dr. O'Brien" she smiled softly at me while i sat in her room, instantly my mum began to tell her everything that has been happening, starting about a year ago when I first got ill with the flu. I was never ill as a child, I got a cold sometimes in winter but that was about it. The nurse looked at me after my mum had finished talking. "have you ever coughed blood before?" she had concern in her voice i shook my head and i could see her thinking before she said she was going to take a look at my chest, I just had to breathe normally for a few seconds, she quickly left the room, that made my mum panick. They had no idea what was wrong with me, they weren't the only ones. The nurse quickly came back confusion in her face but she smiled anyway, "we cannot do any tests here that will determine what is happening, so we have reffered you to the local hospital so they can run test and treat you so you get back to normal, here is all the information, including my number, if you need any advice call it and I will do my best to help. Malia, i hope you get better soon" I saw fear and disapointment in my mums eyes as we walked out of the doctors building. "It's okay mum," I began trying to comfort her "they will run test, find out whats wrong and give me medicine to treat it and then i'll be back to normal" she had tears in her eyes as we drove home. I didn't show it but I was terrified about going to the hospital. The last time I was there I was having to say goodbye to my granddad. I had no idea what they would say, I had even less sleep then usual that night, just thinking about what would happen the following day.
