Author's POV

Ayeon felt a slight nervousness sitting around this girl named Soomin, her palms were sweaty, her lips were twitching and she looked somewhat haggard, even with the mask on.

"Unnie?"

Soomin's voice snapped Ayeon's thought, bringing her back to face reality, she was there because of a reason.

"Y-yes?" Ayeon couldn't help but stutter at her words, she tried to relax, she tried to control her facial expression and even gestures, but she failed miserably. She couldn't bear to look into Soomin's eyes so she just stared at the ground, shifting from one foot to another.

"Why are you here?"

That abrupt question from the younger was a little bit too harsh, it felt like she knew Ayeon's presence was not going to give her any good. Ayeon realized she did not have much time left as she too had school the next day. She heaved out a heavy yet meaningful sigh, tilted her head up to face Soomin.

"I'm the one that should ask you that. Why are you here? Don't you have school tomorrow?"

"Personal issues with my brother, I don't know. Let's not talk about that. How about you? Don't you have school too?"

"Young girl, I'm no longer in high school," Ayeon chuckled at her own statement, "I'm already working."

"Really? You look so young, I thought you were the same age as my brother! What's your job?"

"I'm currently working in a murder company, don't care about the name though," Ayeon blurted out the truth, because she knew well the latter wouldn't believe a single word.

"Really? I'm a part-timer in spy mansion!" Soomin went along with Ayeon, which she taught Ayeon was only joking around, "I'm Soomin."

"I'm Hayoung," she lied, giving Soomin a heartwarming smile.

🌷

It was almost midnight when Soomin decided to go home, ending their conversation. She told Ayeon that she needed to sleep or else she would sleep in Biology. Ayeon got back to her sense, recalling that she got a task to do, but her heart sank, this innocent girl had already opened up to her.

Soomin told Ayeon that her parents were always working, but they still went home before dinner so that they had time with their children. She mentioned that she had a brother, which was in his senior year in high school. The one she had issues with, but she never mentioned her brother's name.

Biology was her favourite subject, she couldn't bear missing even a single class, but she would be more than happy if the literature teacher didn't come to school. She was not into languages, not at all.

"Let me walk you home," Ayeon offered the latter.

"Aww thanks."

🌷

Soomin took a turn to the left once they were both stepped outside the cafe, heading to Soomin's house. Without hesitating, Soomin brought Ayeon to a small alley, telling the older that it was the shortcut to her house.

This is the shortcut to Chan's house too.

Ayeon shrugged her thoughts off, focusing on her one and only mission she approached Soomin's earlier. Little did Soomin knew, Ayeon was already planning on ways to end her life at the long, dark and menacing alleyway.

Soomin turned around and as she was about to say something, she stopped in her tracks when she saw how sharp Ayeon's gaze was on her. She gulped hard, backing further from Ayeon. She tried to run, but her back was already facing the wall.

The atmosphere began to turn timid, Ayeon's eyes were piercing right through Soomin's helpless soul as she trapped her. Ayeon took out a knife she was hiding in her jacket, lunged forward, stabbing Soomin.

Soomin winced in pain, she got a hold of the knife, trying to pull it out, but she was just too fragile to even lift her hands. Soon enough, a trickle of blood slid down along with her tears. She tried to scream, but ended up crying in agony.

Ayeon stood there, doing nothing. She had the guts to help Soomin, but what on the world would a murder help their own victims? That was just crap.

Soomin dragged her feet along the wall, still trying to pull out the knife. She darted to the left as she could see street lights from afar, but when she was about to continue with her pace, she could feel a strong grip on her wrist, making her tripped and stumbled to the ground, deepening the wounds.

She gasped for air, she couldn't breathe properly. There was no way she could manage to survive any further with her condition. Blood was flowing nonstop and that was what made it hard for her to breathe, she was loosing the transport mechanism in her body.

Ayeon couldn't wait any longer, knowing that stabs were time-consuming, for Soomin's central nervous system got unplugged. Waiting for the girl to die was just a waste of time and she might get caught. She stepped forward, slicing Soomin's throat, blood were spattering everywhere, but she ended Soomin's life for good.

She wiped the nasty blood off her face, shoving her hands in the pockets before leaving the scene as if she did nothing wrong. Ayeon prayed hard that all that she has done towards Soomin would be kept silent like her past victims.
