Shawns jeep went to a complete stop and I knew exactly where we were. I jumped out of the car setting another record with my speed.
I walk through the forest that soon is cut off by a large body of water. My eyes automatically narrow on the wide span of water that looked like it stretched for miles. I took off my socks and converse and settled my aching feet into the cold gravely sand.
The blueish green water would splash my toes but nothing else. It was so relaxing. No need for therapy!
I look behind me to find a smiley Shawn with the widest grin I've ever seen on his perfect face. "Why do you look so happy." I bring out my sassy attitude so I can figure out the mystery. "Nothing I just like seeing you smile for a change." His smile quickly fades and I blame me and me only for that reason.
I pat the sand and motion for him to sit next to me. He sits down right next to me and I feel the tension grow. It wasn't an awkward tension more of a "hurry up and tell him you lyed" sort of tension. But, only I could feel it cause only I knew that I lyed, only I knew what really happened.
"So Shawn I need to tell you something." I try and sound relaxed but my nerves feel like they are on fire. "Yes what is it.?" He questions. "Well I've been keeping a secret from you about something." I gulp the large lump in my throat and take another breath. "Just tell me Lacey I won't get mad." He sounded more stern than before making me feel even more stressed out. His hand slowly creeps up my leg and he rests it on my knee giving me a warm feeling of relief.
"So the truth is tha..." before I could get out the agonizing truth out Shawn pushed his soft lips onto mine. I enjoyed the first few seconds but I really needed to tell Shawn what happened. Pulling away from him I felt angry like he didn't want to hear me talk.
"SHAWN LISTEN TO ME I NEED TO LET YOU KNOW THE TRUTH BECAUSE I LIED TO YOU ABOUT WHY I HAD TO LEAVE I... I FUCKING LIED."
My face was dark red expressing my anger. "Woah Lacey I didn't think it was that important..." I couldn't let him finish his sentence. "Well it is! Now do you want to hear the truth?" I said with a more settle tone. "Of course let it out." He gripped onto my hands and looked into my eyes burning A look of concern into mine.
"So when you were pursuing your dream of music and working at the studio I umm..." my hands started to feel clammy and a large lump formed in my throat. I sucked it up and opened my mouth once more. " I was feeling lonely and went to the bar to get a couple of drinks and just hang since you weren't around as much. But, 3 drinks didn't feel like it would... take away my pain so I ended up drinking around 6 drinks at that moment I was totally drunk. Everything went black for a while but, then I remember waking up the next day somewhere really familiar but I didn't remember how I got there. So that's when I looked to my side and saw umm..." I choked on my words not wanting him to know. "SPIT IT OUT!" Shawn yelled.
"OKAY I WOKE UP NEXT TO YOUR BEST FRIEND SHAWN! IT WAS CAMERON I'M SORRY!WE SLEPT TOGETHER AND I WAS DRUNK I'M SO SORRY!" my throat was aching as I finished that sentence.
"You what?" Shawns face was full of pain and I knew I'd hurt him. But, that wasn't the full story.
"Wait Shawn before you blame it on me there is more to the story. I...I...I didn't meant to hurt you I was drunk and Cameron was sober."His face soon filled with dark rage and he grabbed my arm tightly and pulled me back to the car.
"Ow Shawn stop your hurting me!" I whined as he ignorantly tugged my arm. He barely loosened his grip and continued to pull me.
As soon as we were by his car he stopped and let me go of his painful grip."Lacey I can't believe you. I loved you and trusted you and you do this to me, to us?" "Shawn wait that's not the full story Cameron bea..." "NO DON'T SAY ANOTHER WORD I'M TAKING YOU HOME AND WE WILL FINISH THIS TOMORROW."
I frowned and got in his car feeling guilty, angry and sad all at once.
I didn't even tell Shawn the whole story how could he be like that?
