Chapter 4: Acquaintances at First Sight

Zoe's POV

The nice man gave me a melon slice, and he was really nice. He walked me home, and told me that I was always welcome in his home. He told me not to worry about anything and that he would always help me when I need it. On the way home, I was defending HIM with my archery skills. He finally told me that his name was Jake. I told Jake goodbye, and I got in bed.

Jake's POV

Zoe is really pretty and brave and I can't wait until I get to see her again! Now I know where she lives, so I can visit her whenever I want to! I told her that if anything bad ever happened that she didn't feel comfortable talking to anyone else about, she could always come to me! I know about the fires and kidnappings, but maybe if I started fires or kidnapped, she would come see me again! No, I couldn't do that....or could I...........

Zoe's POV

I really trust Jake, and I hope he trusts me too. I am going to see him tomorrow, but I don't know if I should tell him about the village drama. I hope my dad doesn't find out, and I hope he doesn't turn on me when I need him the most.
