~ Quinn's p.o.v ~
I put my hands on my hips as I watch Joey practice pitching. It was pretty hot today and I feeling lucky about practicing in the shade. Behind our school there's a lot of trees and creeks. I guess you can say there's a lot of sketchy stuff that happens over here too.
"There they are"
Logan looks at the Marian boys. I look at them. They were on the other side of the field practicing."I hate them all so much. How were you able to deal with Weston?"
He asked me. I don't respond.I squint my eyes trying to get a better look to see who was over there. I wasn't able to see Weston but I had a feeling he was somewhere over there.
"He pitches also, right?"
"Yeah"
I laugh nervously."That's gonna be awkward and uncomfortable as hell"
"Tell me about it"
I scoffed.
"You'll do good kiddo"
He holds out his fist to me. I fist bump him."Quinn, can you go to the truck and get the bags out of the trunk?"
Joey said to me. I nodded."Mark, help her get the bags"
He demanded.Mark puts down the bat and lets out an annoyed sigh. It kinda made me feel sad how close we used to be to how much he can't stand me.
We start walking but he keeps his distance from me. I wanted to say something to break the awkward silence but I knew he didn't want to talk.
Once I got to the truck I opened up the hood. Mark reached in for the bags.
"Need help?"
"I got it"
He avoided eye contact as he swung the bag over his shoulder. He grabbed the other bag off the ground and started walking away from me. I reached into the trunk and grabbed the last bag."Quinn Jones"
A familiar voice said behind me.I turned around. Great.
Brennen laughs slightly and eyes me down.
"I hate to say it Quinn but, I never knew how hot you were in a uniform until now. Your boyfriend...ex boyfriend really lucked out"
He smirked.I rolled my eyes.
"You mind?"
"Uh yeah? Aren't you gonna say hello?"
"No, I'm not Brennen"
I said as I began walking away.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa... what's the rush? Let's talk"
He stands in front of me with a devilish smirk."No! You're the last person I'd want to talk to"
I scoffed."Hey, get away from her"
Mark walked over to us."Don't tell me what to do musically boy"
"Then get the fuck away from her"
He pushed him."Whoa, whoa, easy boy. I just wanted to talk to her"
He smirked.
"Yeah? Well your team fucked her over enough, get away from her"
"I'm not gonna say it again Mark. Don't tell me what to do"
He says through gritted teeth.
"Mark..."
I said calmly, grabbing his arm."Don't waste your time on him, let's go"
I said quietly, rubbing his arm. He puts his hand on my back as we started walking."Pussy"
I hear Brennen mutter."What did you just say?"
Mark turned around."Mark!"
I yelled as he walked towards him. He raises his hand to punch him."Mark stop!"
I cried again, wrapping my arms around his waist and pulling him back.
Brennen starts laughing.Mark eventually broke free from me. Brennen pushes him.
"Brennen stop!"
I said loudly. I tried to break them up. Brennen backhands me. I let out a screech as I fall back."Did you just hit her?"
"She deserved it anyways,"
Brennen scoffed.Mark punches him.
"What the hell is going on?"
Joey hurries over to us.He gets between them, pushing them away from each other.
"Mark I need you to calm down"
He said containing him. I feel someone pull me up."Are you okay, Quinn?"
Weston asked me as he held my arm.I feel my heart beat start to speed up. I got butterflies in my stomach. He's the last person I'd want to see. But a part of me was happy and wanted to hug him.
"I'm fine"
I backed away from him.Joey and I picked up the bags and started leading Mark back to the group before more conflicts started.
I really miss Weston.
