Rebecca's POV
I was sitting cross-legged as I stared at the grass, pulling it from the ground and twisting it between my fingers. The sun shone on the Flynn-Fletcher backyard, causing whatever it touched to light up in flames. Just kidding, but it sure as heck felt like it.
I sighed as I watched Phineas work hard on his inventions. Something bad happened after he left me on our date a week ago, for he hadn't been the same since. He has made about thirty inventions the past week, has barely acknowledged me, and he especially seemed off when Ferb was around. Which was totally weird, since they were really close.
And...I hadn't seen Isabella at all. I didn't want to admit that I knew why. That it was probably my fault. I felt incredibly stupid and I wanted to fix this mess, but I didn't know how to talk to Phineas about it.
I stood up and walked over to where Phineas was kneeling on the grass, working on a new set of blueprints. I bent over to reach his height.
"Hey, Phin?" I said. "Could I talk to you?"
He didn't respond, his face remaining
concentrated."Phineas. Phineas. Hey, Phineas. Phin. Phin-Phin. Phinny. Phineas. Phin-e-as," I chanted, poking the boy's arm as I did so.
He finally looked up, his eyebrows raising as his eyes met mine.
"Oh, hey Rebecca," he said. "Didn't see you there."
"Really? 'Cause I've been her for an hour."
"Oh, sorry about that. I guess I'm just not myself today."
"Today?" I questioned.
"Heh, I mean, I haven't been myself this week," he chuckled rubbing the back of his neck.
"It's fine," I told him, giving him a small peck on the cheek. What the heck did you do that for? I thought you were trying to fix this situation? I grimaced. "I forgive you if we can talk for a little while."
"I don't know, I mean I'm really busy."
I sighed. "You know what, fine. I'll be back."
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Yeah, it's fine. See you later."
He'd already started working on his blueprints again. I walked out of the backyard and looked towards Isabella's house. Maybe I could try to fix everything by talking to her...
I knocked on the door and a woman answered it.
"Oh, hello. Aren't you the new neighbor form across the street? I'm Vivian. Oh, your so tall and pretty. Are you done growing? What's your name?" the woman blabbered.
"Uh, yes, I think so. I'm Rebecca," I said.
"Rebecca! Very pretty name! You're here for Isa? She's up in here room if you want to go see her."
"Yes, thank you Vivian."
I walked in and glanced around before walking upstairs. I easily spotted Isabella's door to her room, I mean it did have a big, pink "I" on it.
I knocked and heard a muffled "come in". I walked inside to see Isabella by her window, her head buried in a book.
"Hey, Isabella," I said.
She peered up from her book and her eyes widened.
"Rebecca! What are you doing here?" she asked with downcast eyes. I winced, she did not seem too happy to see me. I didn't blame her.
"Hey do...do you think we could talk?"
"I-I don't think so. Not right now, sorry."
I sighed. What did I expect to get out of this visit? "Okay, I'll see you later."
I exited her house, wanting to crawl into a hole and die. I didn't know where to go so I just went back to Phineas' backyard, hoping I might have a chance to talk to him. I sat back down and watched as Phineas built, oblivious to me even coming in.
