Rebecca's POV
It had been another day of Phineas' obsessive building and I was starting to get really worried. I needed to fix this mess soon or Phineas might just go insane.
I walked into the Flynn-Fletcher's backyard and just like I expected, Phineas was already there, building away. I hurried up to him, kneeling down by his side. I tried to gain his attention by grasping his hand. Our fingers interlocked, but he didn't seem to notice.
All of a sudden, he got up and walked over to the supplies, pulling me up with him. Oh, crap, does he even notice I'm here?!
Phineas sat back down at his spot on the grass. I swung my hand away from his and watched as his arm just fell back to its rightful place, the tools.
I sighed. "Phineas!"
His head jerked up to look at me, as if he just woke up from a trance.
"Look Phineas, I don't know if you've noticed, but you've been building like nonstop this entire week. I'm really worried and...well, I've been needing to, well..." I scrambled to find the right words. "Ugh, why is this so hard?" I muttered.
Phineas' blue eyes seem to sparkle under the sun. "I'm-I'm so sorry Rebecca. I've just had a lot on my mind lately. Is...everything alright?"
"I mean-um," I said. "Yeah everything is fine. Just, what am I to you?"
Silence.
"Wha-what do you mean?" he asked.
"Well, do you consider me your girlfriend after what happened at, you know, Isabella's party?"
"My...girlfriend?" he questioned, it seemed, more to himself than me. It was as if the word was foreign to him. "Yeah, I-I guess you are."
I didn't know how I felt at that moment. His response had come out much more like a question than an actual statement...
