Mood: Excited, but nervous

The boxes are packed
The truck is loaded
The owner of the house is at the door
Dad and the owner can't stop arguing
I walk around the house
Thinking to myself
"This was just temporary"
I look towards the kitchen
And what do I see?
A reminder of why I can't wait to leave
One little Western Cockroach running
Running across the counter
I look away
Away to keep from yelling at the owner
It wasn't marvelous on move in
Its not the houses fault that the owner doesn't care
Doesn't care enough to take care of it
The house gave us what we needed
When we needed it most
It gave us a roof over our heads
Water to drink
Gas to cook
And a place to sleep
The owner was just worried about rent
Not about the house
"This was only temporary"
I hear my dad say to the owner
The owner begging my dad to stay
We already have another house
Already paid for water there
And gas
And for our services to be transferred
I drown out the owners pathetic wining
Walking around the house
Double checking we have everything
My dad hands the owner the keys
"Let's go ladies,time to leave"
I hear my dad say
I get in the van with my mother
One final load of stuff in the back
My baby brother cooing in his car seat behind me
My dad and little sister climb in the truck
And both start the engines
As we pull away
I wave goodbye
Goodbye to the negativity
Goodbye to the trouble
Goodbye to the home owner who walked all over us
And say hello to a new home
And new beginnings
"With that, moving day is over"
I say to my mother
And she just nods
As ready for a fresh start as me
