~John's POV~

"AAAAH!" I screamed. I rolled off my bed. The clap of thunder woke me up. I looked at my phone.

     5:56am

"Might as well get up, I'm hungry." I muttered to myself. I hopped out of bed and threw on a hoodie and some sweatpants. I started to walk down the hallway when I heard a another crack of thunder. That was followed by a whimper. I looked around. I was right in front of Alexander's room. I peeked my head inside. He was nowhere to be found.

     "Alexander?" I called out. Nothing.

"Alex?" I tried again. Then another clap of thunder. Another whimper. It was coming from the closet in the corner of the room. I walked over.

"Lexi? You okay?" I froze at the accidental use of a pet name. Then I continued. I opened the door to the closet slowly and found Alex curled up in a ball on the floor, violently shaking.

"Alex what's wrong? Are you scared of thunder?" I asked as nicely as I could. He looked up at me. His cheeks and eyes were stained red from tears. I picked him up bridal style and put him on his bed.

"It's okay Lexi." I assured him. There was another clap of thunder. He whimpered again and scrambled into my arms. My heart thumped.

No John, not time for your feelings. You need to help Alex.

I pulled him closer and rubbed his back, his head on my shoulder. "Sshhh Lexi, it's all going to be alright." I whispered, still rubbing his back. He held both my hands. My heart thumped again. I scolded myself in my head.

After a half hour or so it stopped storming. Alex fell asleep. I decided to stay there with him. I carefully put his head onto his pillow and I layed next to him with my chest against his back. I pulled him close. "It's okay Lexi." I whispered, as he was still shaking. "It's all over now" I whispered, barely audible.

     It's all over.
