Chapter 3:

Ryan's POV:

"Hurry up and finish your ice-cream." I say.

"I'm almost done." He replies. That's a lie.

"Maybe if you stopped checking out that girl over there you would be faster."

"I'm almost done."

Is he even paying attention?

"Just go talk to her."

"I'm almost done." Well that answers my question.

"Michael!"

"Yeah! Uh, hey." He blinks his eyes at me in confusion.

"If you don't ask her out, then I will ask her out for you." Of course this causes him to go up to her, I roll my eyes. Five minutes later he comes back with her number in his phone and a pathetic smile on his face.

"Let's go." I say annoyed that I even had to take him to the ice-cream shop. Our parents think that we don't spend enough time together so they gave me a $20 and told me to get ice-cream. Who can resist free ice-cream?

I flip on the radio and start tapping the steering wheel to the beat of "Another One Bites The Dust." Michael reaches out and changes to change the station. I slap his hand.

"No one touches my radio." I say grinning at him.

"But I don't like this song."

"Too bad, I do and it is my car." I truly do love authority.

As I'm driving the lake comes into sight, the lake is such a beautiful place, especially at sunset, and if I ever meet a girl I really loved I would propose there, not that I would ever tell anyone that. In the blink of an eye the car in front of me swerves left heading straight towards the lake. I immediately slam my brakes noticing the red light and people crossing the street. Michael and I get out of the car and rush towards the lake.

"What do we do?" he asks. I really don't know.

"Umm, you took lifeguard first aid, didn't you? Try and see if you can get someone out." I say to Michael who jumps into the water. A few moments pass and Michael isn't up yet, but I see someone swimming. Some other people have gotten out of their cars to see if they can help.

"Hey! Over here! I see someone." I shout to no one. I run to the edge of the lake, my ankles in the water. The girl looks like she is having issues swimming so I rush deeper into the water to help her out of the water, at the same time I see Michael and a man surface.

As I reach out to the girl I immediately recognize her.

"Cassandra!?" I say, she struggles to stand up but manages. She looks me in the eye.

"Mr. Ryan Flent." She murmurs right before she passes out into my arms.
