Chapter 5:

Ryan's POV:

We reach her house and she sits in the car for a few seconds.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"It feels weird; meeting my parents all over again."

"Oh, well, I will be here with you the whole time." She looks over towards me and smiles, I'm actually quite surprised how calm she is around me. We get out of the car and head to the front door.

"Do I knock? Ring the doorbell? What do I do?" She says to me, beginning to panic.

"Just knock." I say, shrugging my shoulders. She knocks gently on the door. I snort.

"What?"

"Nothing, I mean, well, you knocked so politely I don't think anyone heard you."

"Oh." She says and stands there for a moment, "Well how do you suggest I knock."

"Like this." I wrap my knuckles against the door, louder than her but not pounding it.

"Well, I have my ways, and you have yours." She says with a humph. A few moments later we hear someone approach. A man opens the door.

"Cassandra! Oh, come in dear, and you, young man." he says addressing me. We enter into her house, it is a bit big and very neat on the inside. She has polished white floors, and a marble staircase leading upstairs, I'm marveling at the sight and notice she is too.

"Umm, not to be rude, but who are you? Are you my father or....?" She says in her usual nervous and polite voice. The man smiles and nods his head.

"Yes, sweetie, I am your father." I notice sadness in his voice, it must be hard not having your daughter be able to recognize you. We hear footsteps and a woman enters the room. The woman is definitely Cassandra's mother. The have the same striking blue eyes. Her mother has dark blonde hair whereas Cassandra is just a brunette, but they both have soft, bouncy curls.

"Cassandra! Darling." Her mother says approaching her with arms stretched out and over pronouncing her name. Mrs. Townsman is dressed in a dark blue knee length dress, and looks very young for what age she probably is. Mr. Townsman on the other hand is wearing jeans and a plain brown shirt, he has blonde scruffy hair and gray eyes. He appears young but also seems so have that worn out affect. Cassandra has a smug, uncomfortable facial expression as Mrs. Townsman hugs her.

"So Cassandra, dear," her mother speaks and still has an official voice, as though she is speaking to the entire nation rather than, simply, her own daughter. "Your father and I were planning on giving you a fun, relaxing evening. We are going to your favorite pizza place, getting frozen yogurt, and heading home to give you," Mrs. Townsman voice softens and she all of a sudden looks older. Her shoulders shrug down a little, and she drops the smile. "We are going to give you, well, the tour of the house and then show you pictures books. Maybe then you will remember. Maybe then you will remember even us." She adds a smile; I can see her eyes are glossy with tears, though.

"Ok, thank you so much. That sounds like so much fun. Can Ryan come though?" Cassandra replies with a nervous smile. I stand there awkwardly, staring down at my shoes.

"Ryan?' Mrs. Townsman says. I look up and give a slight wave. "Oh, hello, Ryan. Yes, it would be a pleasure to have you come. And thank you so much for bringing Cassandra home. Kevin, my husband here," she gestures towards Mr. Townsman, " thought it would be a good idea to have someone close to us pick up our daughter, for you see, we were busy. So I decided on a Flent family member. Your mother and my husband work together."

"And I'm sure that the fact he's my boyfriend helped with the deciding process." Cassandra adds with an innocent laugh. My eyes widen a bit and I give a grin towards her parents. They simply give me a confused look and nod their heads.

Well, that was a close one! This is going to be very interesting, I just hope my plan works. And hey, maybe if she falls for me then when she learns the truth she won't be mad! Hopefully...
