It didn't take long for the Gems to find Peridot's kidnapper, thanks to Garnet. As she predicted, it was busy patrolling the outskirts of the Kindergarten for any "threats". Steven scowled as he watched it pass. "You'll pay for hurting my Peridot..." Garnet put a hand on his shoulder, then turned to Amethyst and Pearl. "You know what to do."
The four gems drew their weapons and stepped out of hiding. "Hey! Ugly! Yeah, you!" Amethyst mocked, causing the monster to look over in their direction. It snarled at them, then charged, as the four Gems lunged forward, weapons poised to strike. They collided in the middle of the canyon with a crash, sending a cloud of dust into the air.
As the dust settled, Steven and the Gems steadied themselves to face their enemy. The monster had been knocked backwards into an exit hole, its legs sticking out. It flailed around helplessly for a minute before pulling itself out with a grunt. The Gems readied themselves for the next attack. Suddenly, the monster decided to run, sprinting off deeper into the Kindergarten. "After it!" Steven cried, attempting to follow, but Garnet held him back. "We'll get it another time. We've got more important things to deal with now."
"That thing hurt Peridot! I'm not just gonna let it escape!" Steven tried to pull away. "Steven, listen to me. We will deal with it another time, but you need to go back and let her out of the bubble, and find a safe place for the Geode. Trust me, that thing isn't going to leave this location," Garnet explained. She nodded to the others, who put away their weapons and started walking to the nearest warp pad. She turned back to Steven, still waiting for him to make his decision: leave or stay. He looked from the direction of the warp to the footprints of the monster and sighed.
"Fine, let's go..." Steven mumbled, barely loud enough for the others to hear. Garnet patted him on the shoulder. "You are very loyal, you know, standing up for your love like that. I'm sure she'd be flattered~" He blushed. "I miss her already..." The fusion smiled at him. "Don't worry, she'll be back soon."
