Steven and the Gems arrived at the Kindergarten just in time to see the monster stalking past, empty-clawed. They breathed a silent sigh of relief, but it didn't last long when they realized that Peridot could be anywhere! The entire Kindergarten was miles across, a maze of cliffs and rocks. It could take a while to find Peridot.

Steven stepped off the warp pad, desperately looking around for any sign of her. Peridot couldn't be that far, could she? "Garnet, where is she?" he desperately asked the fusion. She glanced around, then shushed him. "Listen..." Faintly, the Gems could hear distant cries and sobs. "Peridot..." Steven turned in the direction of the noise. "Let's go find her."

After an hour or so of listening and searching, it was Pearl who found Peridot huddled in her cave. "Oh dear... Steven, you might need to take care of this..." Steven rushed over, seeing his mate sobbing and trembling. "Peridot!" He rushed over to her, but stopped short as he saw her bruises and the stain between her legs. "Oh no..."

"Steven! T-thank the stars..." Peridot managed to force a smile, but dropped it as another contraction shook her body. "L-little h-help h-here?" Steven crouched down beside her, brushing the tears from her face and letting her grip his hand for support.

"You should probably phase your uniform off, okay?" Steven suggested quietly. Peridot nodded weakly and the bottom half of her outfit dissolved into light. "Now just breathe." She clung to him, panting and whimpering, while he calmed her down and helped her birth the Geode.

It took nearly forty-five minutes, but soon the Geode was almost out. Peridot had nearly passed out at this point, but she struggled to keep conscious. Of course, Steven's kindness and guidance was helping her greatly, and with a final push, the Geode popped out onto the stony floor. Peridot let out a final wail before retreating back into her gemstone, leaving her arm and leg attachments behind.

As the last of Peridot's form faded away, Steven grabbed her gem and limb enhancers and placed them in a pile nearby. He picked up the Geode, inspecting it. It looked nothing like any Earth geode he'd ever seen, those with rocky outer shells and crystals inside. This Geode was almost perfectly spherical, lime green in color like its mother's gem and shiny. Its surface sparkled with gold and pink stars, catching what little light made it into the cave. It was beautiful.

"Wow," Steven breathed, holding the Geode close. It was hard to believe that inside it was an unborn gem, waiting to hatch. Steven carefully cleaned the remaining fluid off the Geode with his shirt, then took his shirt off as a temporary nest for it. He placed Peridot's gem and limb enhancers around it, then bubbled the whole thing. Steven gave it one last look, remembering the time when Garnet had sent him to the Temple by bubble, then sent it off. He dusted his hands off and headed back towards the rest of the Gems.

"Now to take care of that monster."
