( AT THE TEMPLE )
"Ah, home sweet home," Steven said, stepping off the warp pad. "We've only been gone for three hours..." Pearl corrected, but he wasn't listening. He'd plopped down on the bed, and patted the spot next to him. Peridot noticed and sat down next to him with a huff. "Hey, what's wrong?" He pulled her closer to him. "You can tell me you know." She sighed and leaned up against him.
"I guess I'm a little tired, that's all." Peridot yawned. "This Geode's been taking all my energy lately..." Steven stroked her hair. "You wanna go to sleep now?" She nodded. He picked her up bridal-style, carried her over to his room, and walked in, the glowing door shutting behind them.
"Room, I need a bed for me and Peridot," Steven requested, and a larger version of his bed manifested itself in front of him. He laid Peridot down on it and sat down next to her. "Mmh, thank you Steven..." She mumbled, eyes closed. He smiled and laid down. "Anytime, love." Steven wrapped his arms around her midsection, feeling the warmth of the four-month-old Geode inside her. Her hands brushed his and she smiled.
Steven buried his face in her hair, which smelled like mint and motor oil. He squeezed her fingers lightly. Peridot squeezed back and giggled softly. She'd never been so relaxed in her life.
"Hey Steven?"
"Yeah?"
"I-I love you, Steven. I really do."
"I love you too, Peridot."
"Thanks for everything..."
"Thank you too."
"For what?"
"Everything and more."
