Familiar surroundings greeted me as I entered the portal. I have attacked this place before when we made the impulsive decision and thought that we can take over Silas.
But as I kept walking the place became colder and strange. The walls were of steel grey colour and illuminated by some green hue originated from nowhere and yet it was everywhere.
"This way." A snake man hissed and I noticed few followed me from a safe distance.
I turned to find a huge silver gate in front of me. It opened with a lot of noise and brought me face to face with a coffin. I felt a sharp punch in my gut as I walked in. My eyes watered at the sudden pain and I heard a dry laugh.
"Finally." Silas walked out of from the darkness behind the coffin.
"What now? Do we have a face-off? Or do you want to organise a party now that I am here?" I asked in a bitter tone the pain in my gut slowly subsiding.
He laughed again but this time I heard a tremble in his laughter. He was getting weaker.
And I was getting stronger.
"You know who lies in the coffin?" He asked now coming into clearer view.
His skin was shrivelled and his eyes looked tired.
"The Queen you killed." I made an obvious guess.
"Yes. And also the original owner of the power you hold now."
I was not the least bit interested in knowing that shit.
"Is this dark power like Jumanji?" I asked not sure where the question came from.
Even Silas looked confused.
"I mean that if I die will it get transferred to someone else in close vicinity?" I asked in clearer terms.
Was this a never ending cycle of evil?
"No, the mark on your body traps it. If you die it dies with you." He explained and then coughed painfully.
"Why am I here Silas? To witness your final breaths?"
"You are here to kill me before I die a natural death and become powerful." He said.
And this time I laughed out loud, the dark, evil kind of laughter.
"Oh, how generous of you Silas."
I walked closer and he stepped back in fear," And here I thought you wanted to die, why are you backing off now?"
He was that typical King who loved power and couldn't let it go easily.
"You know Silas, even though I might be getting all evil but I still have no thought of killing my friends and family. Maybe I am not as evil as you think."
"You are holding it better than I imagined but not for long. You have four days left now."
"And what happens after that?" I wanted the details.
"After days your curse becomes permanent and incurable. No true love or anything could help you." He smirked at his impending victory.
Should I tell him that there is a powerful fairy on standby?
"Well, I can always die from starvation or something."
"That's the whole point. You can't die this easy once you are at the peak of the power."
At least he didn't say immortal.
"Let me go, Silas," I said in a calm tone.
"And you will do what? You can't be near humans now Annalise."
