Chapter 9: Beach Time!

Joey's POV:

Shane and I were in his car and we were taking one last ride to search for someone. Someone that I would actually like and feel something for this time. I have to admit, it did feel good for some of the girls I recently met to like me and give me their number, but I didn't like them that way. I needed someone who I did feel something for. Whether it was a girl, or even a guy, I guess... I've never tried that, but uh, If I don't find a girl, I guess I'm looking for a guy. I don't know really, I'm still kinda confused with all of that. Anyway, I looked out the window and saw that we were driving to the beach. There are definitely a lot of people there! It was a little dark outside, but we still had a while until it would be really dark. I looked over at Shane, who was concentrating on driving, and I smiled at him, flustered. I really thank him for doing all of this, even if it isn't working out the best way it could for me right now. He's my best friend and always will be! Time flew by and we arrived at the beach! I was excited, and nervous again. Valentine's Day is in a few days and Im anxious! I don't want this to be forced. Ughh! I was lost in thought as Shane swung open my door once again. I hurriedly got out as I looked at Shane and pulled his arm.

Joey: Wait...

Shane looked at me and I stared at his eyes. He was close to me, but not too close. All I saw in his eyes was understanding and generosity at this moment.

Shane: Yeah, Joey?

Joey: Thank you. Thank you so much!

I wrapped my arms around Shane and pulled him close to me tightly. I could feel his heartbeat. Shane stood there stunned, and soon wrapped his arms around my back and moved one hand to my hair. God, he is an amazing friend for doing all of this.

Shane: You're welcome. It's no problem, really.

Shane looked into my eyes as he pulled away. I was excited.

Shane: Come on Joey! One last time, can be magical!

Joey: I really hope so...

I smiled at Shane and he returned the smile. He dragged me around the car and up the sand to the coast. Shane told me to search for someone, anyone and we talked to some people for a while, but I never felt interested in anyone, not even one bit. I even tried it on some men, and that got weird. Ehh, I don't know anymore. I took off my shirt and sat down on the coast as I placed my feat in the water, sitting on the sand. The cool water rushed through me. Shane came over to me and sat by my side. He folded his arms and looked at the dull-blue sky.

Shane: Any luck?

Joey: Nope.

Shane: Aww, Joey.

I turned to face Shane who was still staring at the sky. I found his blue eyes that matched the beautiful sky.

Joey: Shane?

He turned to me, smiling. He looked at me, confused.

Joey: I - I uh....

I moved slightly closer to Shane. Not TOO close, just a little. Shane looked down at my chest and then back in front of him.

Joey: I -

Shane: What is it?

Just then, I was interrupted as a girl came up right behind me. Daydreaming in Shane's eyes I turned around quickly to find a girl staring at me with brown eyes. She was gorgeous. She had long ombre-style hair, wore a pink tank, and jean shorts and moccasins! 

Girl: Hey, um, my name's Shelby. I just wanted to come over here because I think you're cute and you look really fun to hang out with..

She looked a little nervous, just how I was.
