When Kayley said that she was good in convincing Katy and Dad about the vacation thing. I honestly didn't believe she was serious. And guess what, I was right. She looked really stupid doing that and that was something that Tom and I were recently laughing at. Every single time we see her, that's what immediately entered our minds.
"Mom, please. Just a week?" Tom mimicked Kayley in an insulting but funny way.
"But, you promised! It's summer." I complemented him, mimicking Kayley in the same way.
And that's when we laughed again. I could really tell that Kayley was starting to get pissed but we couldn't help ourselves. We laughed hysterically until our stomachs hurt.
"Will you both stop that? You're both getting under my skin."
"Skin, you mean like getting it tanned under the heat of the sun?" Tom asked, reminding her of the things she said to convince Dad and Katy.
"Fuck you, Tom." She bellowed in annoyance and trying to surround us with trepidation. But, it didn't work. I almost felt sorry for her.
"Alright, I'm going to my room." I said and walked to my room.
I shoved myself in my bed and realized that he shouldn't have missed this. I wondered if where had he gone.
As if on cue, my phone began to ring. I picked it up and an unknown number was shown. I answered it, knowing it was Drew.
"Luanne. It's me. Drew." He asked in a voice full of dread and terror. Fear. That was it. His voice was full of fear.
"Sweet Jesus, Drew. Where in the world are you? You've got us worried for days, weeks even. Shit, Drew." I said, trying to keep my voice calm and soft.
"I know and I'm sorry. I need you to meet me tomorrow. Will you? Please?"
"But--" I started to say but he cut me off.
"Come on. I'll explain everything there. Make sure no one knows about this. I trust you, Luanne. And I need you to trust me with this. Do this for me, for Kayley."
"What does Kayley have to do with any of this? Shit, Drew. What the hell have you done?"
"I told you, I'm going to explain everything, everything, tomorrow. Alright? I love you, all of you. Remember that, okay?"
"I will. Just keep your ass safe, will you?"
"I will. I'll send a message of where to meet, okay? Be there before eight tomorrow morning. Before eight, do you hear me?" I was about to answer when he instantly hung up. Jesus, Drew. What the hell happened to you? I thought to myself.
The message arrived after a minute. I recognized it though. It was in an abandoned building a blocks away from our house. I had a bad feeling about it. I try to calm myself eventhough my intuition was telling me that someting terrible had happened. And my intuition rarely fails.
