Prologue:

My all time favorite story to ever hear more than once was always the same one no matter how many I read or heard. It was the magical story of my parents, more like the only one my father ever told me. He barely spoke about his life with mom but when he did; it was always the same one. It had always started in the same way...

~France, 1538~

“I’m sorry, but has anyone seen Dr. Colline Seriate?" A young man was calling out in the middle of the rain as people rushed by his side shaking their heads telling him no.

Women in long dresses ran rather in a funny way as they held their dresses up not to mess them. Men were running around aimlessly. The whole street was chaotic.

“What the hell am I doing here? I am going to kill David for getting me signed up to this!” The man yelled in frustration. “I miss the 22nd century; at least I had a freaking heater.” The man said again as he kicked a rock into a puddle ruining his attire. He cursed under his breath as he tried to get the mud off his pants and ended up falling straight into the puddle, face kissing it.

“Oh my, sir are you alright?” A woman passing by asked as she rushed his way.

“You have an English accent.” The guy said as he stared straight into her eyes.

“Why yes I do. I have been educated in England.” She smiled at him as her face shimmered with the droplets of water caressing it. “My name is Elizabeth Logwene.”

“Cory, Jonathan Cory, but you can call me John.” He smiled back at her as he took her hand in his as she helped him up. He couldn’t help but be stunned at the beauty in front of him. Her eyes were brown with a dash of hazel as they both mixed together with harmony. Her smile was worth a million dollars; and her voice sang in his ears. She couldn’t help but blush as she watched him study her every inch.

“I know Dr. Colline Seriate; he works right across the corner over there. He is my uncle you know. Come along; I will escort you there.” She said sheepishly as she walked with him under the rain to a little home in the end of the street. The two then walked into the home and dried themselves with towels a maiden had given them.

“Hey doc; where the hell are you?” John yelled as he searched the room for the missing guy. Elizabeth watched him walk around the house like he owned it. He looked rather weird in her eyes. He had worn a pair of shredded jeans and an open blouse to his chest. He had some chain on his hip and some drawings on most his arm. She got lost as she trailed the drawing.

“It’s a snake tattoo; it ends with a skull on my shoulder.” John smirked as she directly looked away. “I can show you if you want.” He added as he walked towards her.

“That won’t be necessary. Have you found the doctor?”

“My, my, you are elegant. Yeah he is coming down.” John said as he sat down facing her. He was still looking at her like she was the world’s first wonder.

“Jonathan Cory, we had finally met. My sincere apologies for the misdirection; after all; France is one big country to get lost in.” A husky voice said as a tall man walked in. “Hello there Elizabeth.”

“Look man, I don’t give a damn how big this country is; give me what I want so I’ll be on my way.” Jonathan said a bit impatiently. The doctor just rolled his blue crystal eyes and disappeared in the hallway. The two in the room just shifted in their seats as the tension grew between them. “So, Elizabeth; what has brought you here; business or pleasure?” He asked as he winked her.
