I like fire.
Jack's POV
I saw Minx disappear into the kitchen. I let out a frustrated sigh and quickly freed the officers foot. I carried her outside to the police car where we heard the radio going off.She sat in the car and started frantically talking into it, requesting backup and an ambulance. Then why did Minx need her phone?
The officer must have forgotten bout the radio in her state of panic. I let it slide as I turned and waited for Minx to come out of the house but she didn't. She should have gotten her phone by now...
"Jack!" I turned when I heard my name being called. Mary, Dodger and Robert came running towards me.
"Where's Minx?" Dodger ask with worry in her eyes. I turned towards the house just as a loud explosion rang out. The cars engine had blown up and now the house was on fire.
By instinct I ran towards the house, ignoring all the cries behind me. I burst through the front door, immediately coughing as smoke filled my lungs.
I left the door open and made my way to the kitchen but remembered the car. A flaming shell of it remained, blocking my path.
I made my way to the back door and ran out, breathing in the fresh air as I ran to the kitchen window. Smoke covered the glass and prevented me from looking inside.
I picked a rock off the ground and threw it at the glass. It shattered and smoke rushed out of the frames. When the flow slowed I reached a hand in and unlocked it, opening the window as wide as possible.
I scampered up the wall and into the kitchen. I tried to carefully climb over everything on the bench but managed to slip and fall to the floor. I landed awkwardly on my previously sprained arm and felt the pain travel through it and stifled a scream.
Keeping low, I searched the smoky room for Minx. I found her laying on the ground, blood dripping down her face. She must have been knocked unconscious.
"MINX!" I screamed as I shook her vigorously. Her eyes fluttered open and she groaned, coughing as she breathed in the contaminated air. She covered her mouth with her shirt and looked at her surroundings, figuring out the situation sh was in.
"Jack? What are you doing?" She coughed out. I covered my own mouth and helped her sit up but not to much.
"Saving you. We need to get out of here. The house is about to burn down," I said as I pointed to the window.
She nodded, saving her breath, and began crawling over to the open window. I followed behind her and helped her onto the bench and out the window
Just as I was climbing up I was pulled backwards and hit the floor hard. I coughed as i breathed in the ash ridden air.
I had to squint to see the shadowed figure above me. It took a step closer and I saw that the shadow was actually Aaron.
He kept taking slow steps towards me. I didn't know why, probably to make me more afraid. But i wasn't, not anymore. I quickly scanned the room for anything I could use against him, nothing.
Then a loud crack rang out and the wall above Aaron collapsed. Aaron let out a cry as he was crushed beneath the burning wood.
I let out my own cry when some of the wood landed on my feet, trapping it. I tried pulling free but it only burned my foot more.
With a hiss and small scream, I quickly pulled my foot free and flicked away the burning cinders that stuck to my skin. I tore off the bottom of my shirt and wrapped it around my burnt leg.
I looked up at the open window then at the flames that crept towards me. My eyes stopped on Aaron. He was trying to push the burning wood off of him but was unsuccessful.
Everything was screaming at me to leave him and escape but then I would be like him. I grabbed the broom, starting to push all the hot wood off of the helpless boy and rid his body from the cinders that remained. When he was free I helped him up and led him to the window. He was barely conscious.
"Jack!" I heard Robert call from outside.
"In here! I need you to help me get Aaron out. I can't do it myself," I said once he came into sight. He nodded and grabbed a something to stand on outside, standing on it and leaning into the window.
He help his hands out and I handed Aaron over to him. With our combined effort we were able to heave him through the window into the fresh air. I climbed through after, just before the roof inside completely collapsed.
I tried to breath but the air tasted stale and smoky. Me and Robert carried Aaron to the front of the house and to the others.
Minx was sitting down, leaning against the police car, Dodger at her side. Mary had been looking in our direction and ran over to help when we came into sight. I was still struggling to breath though.
I hadn't heard the sirens nearing us nor the paramedics asking me questions. I just stared at them confused as I tried to breath but failed.
They noticed that something was wrong and stopped asking the questions, just rushing me into an ambulance, Minx in next to me and Aaron in a second vehicle.
The rest was a blur as my breaths got shorter and shorter and eventually I passed out.
Well then. That happened. who wants to get pizza XD
