BETRAYAL
How weak were the strings of love
that bound us;
the love that cemented the bricks
Of his home in my heart
Crumbled to dust with the first drizzle
all I'm left with are the ruins of broken promisesAnd every night I would sleep in fear
Of forgotten memories,
Of stolen tears,
Of endless heartache,
Of howls of a bleeding soul;
Of times my pillow would whisper
Words,
Words that would betray my strength
And throw me into the arms of depression.Allow me to burn in my own turmoil
As I shed my pain, layer after layer
My torn heart beating to the rhythm
Of chaos around me.
I shall rise from this heap of rusting memories.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::And even when he left,
he scratched stories of betrayal
into my spine,
then he left it bent
under the burden of lies.
And when the silence between us
became too loud,
I rested my head against his chest.
and as his heartbeats spoke to me,
I finally knew what betrayal sounded like.
