Soft music gently played in the background as the two boys concentrate on the task at hand. Their first final is Monday, leaving two days between then. Since they were Physics partners all year, it only seemed fitting that they study together. That and the fact that Mrs.K ordered them too.

The coffee shop Lance selected had a pleasing aura. It was calming, but not lulling, allowing the boys to work at maximum efficiency.

"Hey, Lance," Keith promoted, turning his laptop, "Is this the correct setup to figure out the maximum velocity?"

Lance looked up from his textbook, and stared across at his partner.
"The what?" Lance prompted, setting his book down with a pencil in it, to keep his page.

"The maximum velocity," Keith gritted, hating having to repeat himself.
"Dude, chill out, I didn't hear you," Lance defended, rolling his eyes.
"Whatever," Keith muttered, looking at the plant hanging over Lance's head.
"Yeah, it is, good job," Lance said, opening up his book.

Keith's eyes fell down to Lance in silence. The compliment was a surprise. Whenever Lance was checking his work he usually said 'Sure' or 'Whatever you think', because he didn't want to help out his self proclaimed rival.
Lance looked up from his text, and raised his eyebrow at Keith.
"Anything else Mullet?" Lance hissed.
"No," Keith spat back, adjusting his shirt sleeves.

Keith's eyes fixated back on the screen, trying to memorize all the steps for setting up the equation. It was no use. He couldn't get past the second step. He'd been staring at the god damn screen for the past 2 hours. Keith pushed back his seat and closed his eyes, his head pointing to the sky.

Angels. I can see you in the clouds, smiling.

Keith allowed himself to get lost in the music, believing he deserved this break.

He was so tired. Tired of school. Tired of studying for hours and still failing. Tired of the 'education' system.

"More like execution system," he absentmindedly muttered.
School has been slowly killing him for years. Draining everything from him.

"Execution? Where's that in the text?" Lance asked, eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

Keith opened an eye and stared at Lance, trifling through his notes.

"I wasn't talking to you," he unintentionally snapped.

Lance stared at him, the gears turning in his head.
"You know what Keith?" he asked closing his book in a swift movement.
"Have fun failing another test without my help."

Keith gulped, and watched in silence as he packed up his things and stood up.

"Later," Lance snapped, turning away from Keith and walking away.

"Don't go," Keith whispered.
"Please."
"Lance, I need your help."

But Lance didn't hear. He was already out the door.
