Jaelynn's Story- A Hamilton Cast Fanfiction

Chapter 10

After the show that night, I went home with Lin and found Vanessa watching TV. "Seb already asleep?" Lin whispered. Vanessa nodded and she stood. "You should probably get to bed too, Jae. It's getting late," she said.

I glanced at the clock and saw that it read 11:27. "Yeah. Goodnight, guys," I said, giving them a small side hug.

"Night, Jae," Lin said.

I went to my room, quickly changed into a tank top and pajama pants before curling up in bed. I listened to the noisy cars outside, the faint voices of Lin and Vanessa, and soft pitter-patter of rain hitting my window as I fell asleep.

No. No, not again. Please not again. "Oh, yes, little, sis. Again," that voice said. I felt the blood drain from my face as I turned. Carson was grinning at me evilly. "You shouldn't have tried to escape , sis. You need to be punished now," he growled. "Please, Carson. Please, no. Don't! DON'T! STOP! GO AWAY!" I shouted as he grabbed my arms. He shook me roughly before throwing me against the wall.  "You need to learn your lesson, Jaelynn," he growled.  He raised his fist and-

BANG!

I shot up and looked around. Lightning flashed in my room and another bang of thunder quickly followed. I was on the floor. Maybe I fell out of bed. I shakily stood and grabbed my blanket before wrapping it around me. I grabbed my phone as well and walked to the living room, plopping down on the couch.

I looked at the clock on the wall. 4:08. I sighed and lied down, curling into a ball. I listened to the rain falling on the apartment  braced myself for the loud thunder as a flash of lightning lit up the room.

BANG!

I relaxed and fought sleep as it began to wash back over my body. My eyes fluttered and I finally gave up, drifting back into sleep.

"Sissy!" a voice shouted. Before I had the chance to open my eyes and gather my surroundings, someone jumped on me. I freaked out and began thrashing around. "Whoa! Jae, calm down, it's ok, you're safe," another voice said. I opened my eyes sleepily and saw Vanessa holding a confused Sebastian.

"S-Sorry," I apologized, sitting up. "It's ok, honey, we understand," Vanessa said, sitting next to me. I looked down at my hands and Seb crawled off Vanessa's lap and into mine. "Are you ok, sissy?" Seb asked, looking up at me. I smiled at him and nodded.

"Seb, baby, go get dressed and we'll have some breakfast ok?" Vanessa asked. "Ok!" Seb exclaimed, climbing down and running to his room. I watched him leave with a small smile. Oh how I'd missed him.

"Jae, why were you on the couch?" Vanessa whispered in a low voice so Seb wouldn't hear. She turned to face me with a concerned look on her face. "I-I had a nightmare and came out here," I confessed, looking at my hands. 

"Honey, why didn't you come get me or Lin? We could've sat with you," she said, placing her hand on mine. I hesitated and tried not to pull away. "Sorry," she said and took her hand off. "You're ok. And I guess I didn't want to bother you. So-sorry," I said quietly. "Jae, it's ok. I just want to make sure you know that you can come to us when you have a problem. You know that right?" she asked. I nodded, looking up at her kind face. She kissed the top of my head softly.

"Done, Mommy!" Seb said, running back out. Vanessa looked at the small boy and her jaw dropped, causing me to look as well. I put my hand over my mouth to hide my laughter. He was wearing a Power Ranger Halloween mask, a Chuggington pajama shirt, his red, play shorts that holes and grass stains, and mismatching socks. (One Chugginton sock and the other was a Paw Patrol sock.)

Lin walked out of the bedroom and stopped mid-hand-through-hair and mid-yawn when he saw his son. "Is today a costume party I wasn't told about?" he asked, chuckling. "Daddy, I dressed myself!" Seb announced proudly. "I can tell!" Lin said, still chuckling.

Seb refused to change into regular clothes, so he stayed in that for the rest of the day. Lin took me to the theatre with him, and after the show David and I went on that date. It was so much fun and it helped me get my mind off things.

We went to Schmackery's, saw a late night movie, then decided to head home. We didn't get back until late that night and by the time David had dropped me off, my family was asleep.

Today had been fun, and I'm so glad to be back home. Little did I know, Lin had quite the plan up his sleeve.
