Chapter 12

Lauren POV

A couple weeks have went by and Normani has opened up more and more to me like planned, sometimes twice a week. Here we are right now though, watching TV in my room with her head on my lap while I stroke her hair.

"I'm ready to tell you more" She says

"I'm listening" I say

She tells me about her parents and her shitty ass ex.

"Once our parents died the court allowed me to keep her and it was really hard at first, her asthma was the worst back then, some sleepless nights some crazy days, she hasn't had an attack in 2 years but I'm still scared it's gonna start getting worse again, when I was 20 Ally's parents gave me the new position when I asked for it, no matter how many times they offered to willingly give us whatever we needed they knew I was gonna keep declining, I wanted to do it on my own so they let me work there as a way of still looking after me" She sighs

"I was such a reckless teen and I had to change everything with the snap of a finger but I don't regret it, once Zen goes to college I'm quitting and probably do something in performing arts, I just hope in the end this all pays off and my parents are proud of me for taking care of her as much as I have been" She adds

She continues to talk to me about Zendaya and more stuff, by the time she's done talking she hasn't cried but I could tell she wants to.

"Wow you're really strong, you took on a lot at a young age and you're doing one hell of a job, she seems really happy with you and that's all that matters" I smile

"How did you manage not to cry?" I ask

"I don't like crying, especially in front of people" She says

"You seem very stressed so let's go on vacation, everybody" I suggest

"Lauren no, you don't have to" She frowns

"I want to, you can bring your friends and Zendaya and I'll bring my friends, wherever you wanna go" I say

"Fine, Bahamas" She says

"When?" I ask

"1 week from today" She says

"Consider it done" I smile
