Abby

After about an hour and a half of swimming around with Nick-I lost him. I couldn't find him and I began to worry. Our instructor told us that we couldn't panic, so I began to swim around calmly looking for him and picking up shells here and there. I spotted him after about ten minutes, but he was holding someone else's hand. I groaned to myself. I knew this was too good to be true. I swam around by myself for a while, just collecting more shells and sea stars and sand dollars, stuff like that before I got bored of being by myself and headed back to the surface with my bag of shells. I boarded, got dried off and pulled my pajama pants over my bikini bottoms and I hesitantly pulled Nick's hoodie over my top. I rolled up my pant legs and sat on the edge, dangling them over the edge and into the water.

After a while people started coming back up. I had put my shells and other things on a towel to dry off. I returned them to their bag and dried off my legs. I had been watching the fish swim up to my toes and quickly swim away. They would do this about every two minutes, so when they swam back after I had pulled my legs out-they were so confused. I saw Nick some up with the person he was with and pretended to examine my sea-shells as people around me were taking off their wet suits. I subtly watched as the person with Nick took off their underwater mask. I felt a complete lack of surprise when I saw that it was Brittany. My heart hurt, knowing that he had lied to me again. I can only accept 'I'm sorry,'  so many times before its just words. I turned back to my shells, re-examining them. I heard Nick climb out the water, breathing angrily. I ignored him as he stormed past me to get changed.

Brittany sat across from me and began to reach for a shell.

"Ooo-this one's pretty. Can I have it?" She asked. Her hand was almost on it and I slapped it, hard. Nick came back over and looked at me, hinting he wanted to talk. I didn't pay attention.

"Nicky! She hit me." Brittany whined. Nick looked at Brittany and then to me. I scoffed, gathered my stuff and walked to the other side. I just wanted to go back to the ship. I wanted to get away from Nick-my heart can't take anymore disappointment. Nick didn't try to follow me, which I was thankful for.

Finally everyone was back on and we started to go back. I stayed far away from them and when we go back I hurried off the boat and ran into Kevin who was talking to Tony. I got a hug form Kevin and Tony, who kept his arm around my waist.

"How was scuba diving?" Kevin asked and I shrugged, not really wanting to talk about it. Kevin looked around. "Where's Nick?" He asked confused. I bit my lip.

"Kevin, please stop." I whispered and he looked at me.

            "Abby-" He started.

"Just don't." I muttered. "I don't want to talk about it." I said, pleading with my eyes and he nodded.

"So, I apologize for having to cancel yesterday." Tony said, changing the subject, thankfully.

"That’s alright. Are we still on for tonight?" I asked and he nodded.

            "Absolutely." He winked.

"Good." I said. I needed some distraction. I saw Brittany leading Nick away and Kevin glared at him. Thankfully he didn't see me.

"Just you and him, huh?" He asked, turning to me.

"Drop it." I said. "I'm going to my room-I'll see you tonight." I said.

"Wait!" Kevin said. "Walk around with me, please?" He begged. I sighed.

            "Kevin-"

            "Just for a little while?"

"Fine." I sighed. He smiled. We walked around and he pulled me to a shop with wrap around skirts.

"Pick one." He instructed. I looked at him.

“No.” I said. I wasn’t going to let them buy anything for me anymore.

“Abby, please?” He asked nicely, pouting. I sighed.

“Fine.” I looked through the skirts and found one that I liked. It was three different shades of pink with black palm trees on an island with shades of orange, yellow, purple and pink as the water around the beach.

“That one?” He asked and I nodded. “Alright.” He paid for it and we started to walk around. He took my hand and started swinging it gently. I giggled and led him over to another booth and began looking. It was a jewelry booth. He picked up a necklace and held it up and eye level. I looked at him.

            “What?”

“Just trying to imagine something.” He muttered.

“Wanna tell me?” I asked and he shook his head.

“Not yet.” He smiled.  I frowned slightly, but let it go.

“Alright.” He nudged my arm, winking at me. I smiled back and reached for my wallet in the pocket of Nick’s hoodie.

“What are you-Abby, no!” He said loudly as I pulled my wallet out.

            “Kevin-“

“No.” He said, taking it out of my hands and putting in his pocket.

“Kevin!” I whined, reaching towards his pocket. He took my wrist in his hand, not letting me reach his pocket. I went to go around his back and he spun me around, locking my arms in front of me, his arms keeping them in place.

“You can get it back when we get back on the boat.” He whispered in my ear, swaying slightly. I sighed.

            “Fine.”
