I walked away from Kevin and Ashley and hurried up the steps. I was about to enter the small dining hall when I saw Abby hugging this guy I had never seen before. I felt the blood drain out of my face and quickly walked into the room. I was led to our table and waited for Brittany to show up. I looked at my watch-2:05. I waited patiently, forcing myself to think about something besides Abby.

I checked my watch after a while-2:15. I was beginning to wonder if she'd show up. After about ten minutes I saw her walk in. I stood up to greet her, and realized that Vicki and Connie sat down as well. I sat down in disbelief. They all had their cell phones out and were gossiping away. I made my decision. I threw the folded cloth napkin on the plate and walked out. I felt oddly free, like after doing something you've wanted to do for a long time. I had to go find Kevin so I headed back to my room. I saw Abby leaving some guy's room, wiping her eyes. She saw me and I opened my mouth to say something, but her eyes filled with more tears and she walked past me back to her room. I sighed and followed her. She slammed her door and I continued to mine.

"How'd your lunch date go?" Kevin asked as I dropped onto my bed.

            "OK-informative." I said.

"What?" He asked, confused. Ashley was lying on his bed and he was sitting on the floor in front of her, she was playing with his hair.

"I've made a decision." I said, closing my eyes comfortably.

"You mean the one to kick Abby out of your life?" He asked rudely. My eyes shot open.

"What are you talking about?' I questioned.

"She thinks that when you said stay out of it-you meant your life." Ashley explained. I jumped up and ran to the door. I yanked it open to see Joe. I rushed past him to Abby's room. I pounded on the door and Emma opened it barely enough to poke her head out.

            "Sh-Abby's sleeping." She hissed.

"Wake her up! I have to talk to her." I shouted.

"No-she hasn't slept in three days. You'll just have to wait." She said, shutting the door in my face. I groaned and kicked it. I walked back slowly. I opened the door and dropped onto my bed.

            "What's up?" Kevin asked.

"Abby hasn't slept in three days. Did you guys know that?" I asked.

            "Three days?" Joe asked, unsure.

"Yeah. And now she's sleeping and I'm not allowed to talk to her." I said miserably.

"Well, just talk to her after she wakes up." Joe said, stating the obvious.

"Gee, Joe-'cause I hadn't thought of that." I said sarcastically.

"Hey-you don't want our help-take a walk, buddy." He said, knowing full well that I'd stay.

"No-I do. I just don't need the obvious." I sighed.

"Well, what else do you need?" Kevin asked.

"What do I say?" I groaned. "I've screwed up so much-I doubt she'll even listen to me."
