I had apologized to Abby. I felt like the biggest jerk-but she was right and she forgave me. That's why she's amazing. I put my arm around her shoulders and we left the building.
"So-" I began and she giggled. God, I missed her laugh.
    "So what?" She prompted.
"What do you think of Jessi after that question?" I asked.
"I think she's a nosey bimbo." She said and I laughed.
"She really had no right to ask you that." I said.
"She was curious-oh well." She shrugged.
"How can you forgive that easily? It's like you're never mad to begin with." I said. I had my religion, my faith to guide me to forgiveness-she didn't.
"I don't know-I stole your Bible." She laughed. "No-I just-I've always been that way. I'm a firm believer that there are no bad people, just people who do bad things. You know that. I guess its just the way mom raised me." She shrugged. I hugged her sideways.
    "Don't change." I whispered.
    "I won't if you don't." She said.
"Deal." I shook her hand to make it official. She giggled as we reached my house.
"Abby!" Frankie shouted, jumping on her.
"Hi, Frankie." She laughed as Kevin and Joe walked in.
"Hey, Abs." They said, Joe also jumping on her.
"Well, it's quite obvious who Frankie takes after." Kevin laughed as he tried to tug Joe off Abby.
"Joe, I can't balance much longer." She said. He pecked her cheek and let go.
"Hello, Gabriella." Mom said and she waved quietly. "Are you staying for dinner?" She asked.
"Sure." She said before Joe dragged her into our living room and set up guitar hero.
"I bet that you can't beat me on Beast and The Harlot on medium." Joe said with a smirk. She looked at him for a second, sized him up and nodded, picking up the second controller.
"You're on." I sat on the couch and watched as they started to play. "What are we playing for?" She asked halfway through the song. She hadn't missed a single note so far. Joe glanced at her and smirked.
"A kiss." He said and she faltered, missing a few notes.
    "What?"
"If you win-I kiss you. If I win-you kiss me."
"What kind of kiss?" She asked, sounding nervous.
"Any kind." He said lightly. I didn't like the sound of that.
"A-alright." She said. They finished playing, and  of course-Abby won. Just like Joe knew she would. This was her best song to play, and on medium was cake.
"You won-so I have to kiss you." He said, taking off the controller.
"You're serious?" She asked. He nodded and she resignedly took off her controller. He placed his hands on her cheeks and lightly kissed her mouth. He added a little pressure, pulling her closer and her hands moved to his waist. I felt a stab of jealousy hit me like a ton of bricks.
He let go after a few seconds and I took a deep breath. She came over and sat next to me looking confused as Joe picked up the controller like nothing just happened.
"Bad kisser?" I tried to joke and she shook her head.
"I'm an awful best friend." She muttered, putting her face into my shoulder.
"You are not." I said, shocked at what she was saying.
"Emma loves Joe. I just kissed the guy my best friend is in love with. I'm awful." She sniffled.
"You are not." I said. "You couldn't help it. It was a bet." I said, playing with her hair. "Just forget it happened." I told her. She gripped my arm tighter.
"Thanks, Nicky." I gently bumped my head against hers. We sat there for a while until dinner was ready. We were called out to the table and Abby made sure to sit between Kevin and me. Joe looked hurt by it, and to be honest-I didn't feel bad for him.
We finished dinner with little conversation and Frankie, Joe, Kevin and I started to do clean up. Abby tried to help, but I shooed her into the living room. I didn't talk very much to Joe as we started and I heard Abby playing my guitar quietly.
"Nick-" Joe started and I looked at him. "Are you mad?" He asked quietly.
"That wasn't fair and you know it." I muttered. "You put her in a tough spot. You need to talk to her not me." I said and he nodded, although I don't think he quite understood why she was so upset.
We finished cleaning up and I went into the living room just as Abby hit the wrong note. She looked up and smiled sheepishly.
"I can't get this note right." She muttered. I smiled.
"Play it again." I instructed. She set up her fingers and began to play. I watched her closely, trying to find where she was getting it wrong. She hit it and I spotted what she did.
"Ok-you have your fingers on the wrong frets." I said. I gently took her hand and moved it up, but that looked wrong. "No, wait." I said. Now I was unsure-its very different when you're facing it instead of behind it. She giggled at me. I knelt on the couch behind her and lightly moved her hand the right way.
"You sure?" She teased. "Or do you want to move my hand again?"
"Just shut up and play it." I joked. She played it and it worked. She smiled big.
"Thank you, Nicky." She said, looking over her shoulder at me and met my eyes. She smiled a little and I felt myself moving closer to her.
"Abby-can I talk to you?" Joe called. She jumped and quickly stood up. She walked out and I closed my eyes.
'Idiot.' I thought to myself. 'You have a girlfriend-you love her.' I told myself. I picked up the guitar and set it on its stand.
I headed into the kitchen and saw Abby and Joe hugging. Another stab of jealousy surged through me. Why am I getting so jealous? She spotted me, smiled and suddenly my mind went blank.
"I'd better be going home." She said. I heard her speak-but I didn't catch what she said.
    "What?" I asked stupidly.
"I have to go home." She repeated slowly. I struggled to focus on the words she was saying instead of the sound of her voice.
"Oh-alright." I said. She hugged me and kissed my cheek. She said goodbye to everyone else and left. I walked upstairs in sort of a daze and entered my room that I share with Kevin. Someone knocked on the door and I looked up to see Joe.
"Are you still mad?" He asked nervously.
"Did you apologize?" I asked, still dazed.
"Yeah-and I promised it would never happen again." He said and I nodded. "Are you ok?" I nodded again.
"Sure." He came over and felt my forehead and I snapped out of it. "I'm fine." I said firmly, swatting his hand away. He looked at me.
"So what's up? You're spacing." He said and I shrugged.
    "I don't know-just-off-" I stuttered.
    "Off? Like-depressed?" He asked worriedly.
    "No-confused."
"About?" He asked, sitting down on my bed.
"I'm not sure." I said quietly. "I really just need to think." I said and he nodded.
"Alright-if you need to talk, I'm here."
"Thanks." He left and I dropped onto my back on my bed.
