Once Jimin was admitted to the hospital and In Na was certain he was going to be okay did she head out to continue her plan. Night was already creeping in as In Na took a taxi to the motel Jungkook had told her about. Before she entered the building she rubbed her temples trying to subdue the headache that was pounding there, but there was no relief.
Sighing in defeat the girl marched into the motel and made her way to the front desk where she asked about Suga. She had expected it to be more of a fight to get his room number, but the surly desk manager practically threw the information at her to get her to leave so he could return to whatever he was watching on TV.
With the room number In Na climbed the stairs to the second floor and located the room. As she reached up to knock a scent wafted out of the room that sent a red flag up in her head. Her fist pounded against the door while her other hand tried the knob, but of course it was locked.
"Suga? Suga are you in there? Why do I smell gasoline?" she called at the door.
"Go away In Na," Suga yelled back.
"Suga what are you doing? Open the door, we need to talk," she said desperately.
"I said go away!" he shouted.
In Na glanced down at the doorknob and hissed in anger to see it was a keycard lock. She couldn't pick it open. True panic was setting in as she continued to pound on the unmoving door.
"Suga open the door!" she pleaded.
He had stopped responding which only scared In Na more.
"God damn it Suga, open the door!" she cried.
The door next to Suga's room swung open to reveal an annoyed man who yelled, "Take your lovers quarrel somewhere else!"
In Na barely spared the idea a second thought, she didn't have time to think. Dashing for the open door she ducked around the fuming man and entered his room.
"Excuse me, I'll be out of your way in a moment," she quickly said.
"Hey!" he hollered.
But In Na was already at the window and climbing out onto the fire escape. She hurried to Suga's window where she could see a gas can carelessly tossed aside on the floor while Suga stood on the bed with what looked like a lighter in his hand.
"Please, please don't be locked," In Na begged the window.
As she tried the window slid open with ease, but her entrance didn't go unnoticed. She was halfway inside the motel room when Suga dropped the lit lighter. Flames errupted around the room as Suga laughed like there was nothing left to lose.
In Na shoved aside the instinct to flee to safety as she finished climbing through the window. She pulled her shirt collar over her face to breath better as the room filled with smoke. She made her way towards the bed where Suga still stood like a demon in hell. Grabbing his arm In Na pulled him down, and towards the door, but he wasn't going without a fight.
Suga yanked free of her grasp as they reached the door, and when she reached for him again he slapped her hands away.
"Suga we have to get out of here," she yelled over the rumble of the flames.
"I told you to leave," he hissed.
"This isn't helping anyone. Come on, let's go," she urged.
"Go away," he screamed.
Releasing her shirt In Na stepped towards Suga and smacked her hands to either side of his face forcing him to look at her.
"Jin's dead Suga. It's my fault, yes, but you can't do this. He won't forgive you if you die here," she said.
His gaze narrowed at her as he shoved her away, but he didn't stay in the room. Suga stepped around the girl and stormed out of the burning room. As In Na ran out to follow him the fire alarm went off and the hall was filled with people trying to escape.
All the way to the street In Na looked for her old classmate in the chaos, but he was already long gone and she was sure she'd never be able to find him again. Defeated and exhausted In Na slipped away from the crowd as the firetrucks arrived to put out the fire and the police started to calm the mayhem.
When she returned home In Na collapsed onto the couch too emotionally tried to cry, and physically exhausted to change out of her clothes that stunk of smoke. Yawning In Na let her weary body drift to sleep while her mind worried about the boys that she was failing at helping.
"Take care of them."
"I'm trying Jin," she murmured in her sleep.
