Chapter Two

What a way to start the day. Light from the sun hitting my face causing me to wake up. I check my phone to see if i had any notifications but I didn't so I got up.

I looked at myself in the mirror and took in everything I saw. I say my brown hair. It was in a high pony tail. I saw a little dried blood below my nose. I quickly wiped it away. I looked at my cheek and seen a slight bruise. I look to my eyes. They were a light shade of green.

I looked down to my chest. I see all the scars from when Carlos would choke me. He'd allow his claws to puncture my soft pale skin.

"Why do you allow him to hurt you Anastasia?" My wolf spoke. "Take Sidney and run. Run as fast as you can and as far as you can. Shift and let me take control."

"Its not that easy." I explain. "Sidney is pregnant. What if shifting hurts the baby?"

"Shell be fine. Shes so early that her uterus hasn't even begun to stretch. Everything is still nice and tight in its original place. Dont worry."

I listened to my wolf. I had no choice. It was Sidney's only way to survive. She had a baby to think about. I have nobody but her to think about. I have to be the one to protect her.

"Okay. I'll go talk to her now. I hope she understands that we have to leave."

I went to leave the bathroom and as I opened the door, Sidney was standing there in her pink silk robe. It wasn't a very long robe but it fit her body just right.

"Ahh just the person I need to talk to." I say with a smile. She looks at me funny.

"Uhh. Are you okay? You aren't a morning person."

"Oh me? Yeah I'm fine. I do need to talk to you though." I start to whisper. "You and your baby are in danger. Carlos thinks you cheated on him and that this baby isn't his. He wants me to..." I gulped. "Kill you." I say as I frown.

"Oh no. Anastasia can we go somewhere more private? Carlos is leaving in a few hours so we can talk more then. Until then, please get the hell out of my way before I piss my pants!"

I laugh. "Hun, you aren't wearing any pants!"

She looks down and then giggles. "Good one. But seriously move."

I smiled and moved out of her way.

Carlos left the house. I could tell because it was so quiet and he was always yelling.

I go to Sidney and Carlos' room to talk to Sidney.

The door flew open and Sidney tried to run out. She was crying hysterically.

"What's wrong?! Are you okay?! Is the baby okay?!" I question.

"I'm bleeding!" She cried. "Idk if there even is a baby anymore!" She cried even harder.

I pulled her into a hug to comfort her. "Shh. Its okay. I promise your okay. Bleeding is normal at the beginning of a pregnancy. Your bodys just trying to get used to your egg becoming a baby. Thats all."

"How do you know?" She sniffles.

"I'll talk to you later about that but please take my word. Now let's talk about your safety."

We go into her room. She looks petrafied. "I'll told you that you and the baby will be perfectly fine. What's bothering you?"

"Well im just scared. Im happy to have a baby. I'm scared that Carlos really wants me killed all because he's paranoid."

"Its okay. We might not have much time. Carlos wants you killed because he believes your cheating. I know that's not true and I care about you. You're the only other female in this house and you've been there for me ever sence day one. I need to protect you and the baby."

"Thank you Anastasia."

"Of course. But now let's come up with a plan." I get to thinking and then she says something completely genius.

"How about in the middle of the night?"

"Clever." I respond. "I suppose that could work. You can get up to go to the bathroom and then go out the window. We can pack out bags and hide them in the bathroom closet, then grab them and escape!" I forgot this house is only a one story house.

"Yes. That'll work. Let's get to packing. We need to pack food too. Just the basic stuff. We can bring the tent. The tent comes with 2 sleeping bags. The good thing about the sleeping bags are that they have built in pillows so thats allset."

"Does he use the tent often?"

"Nope its in the closet with the other 4 tents that we have. Not that we ever use them." I think she started talking more to herself at the end of her sentence.

"Okay. Its in your closet and you know how everything looks. Grab the tent and make it look like nothing was ever taken. Well need food, atleast 5 days worth of clothes, emergency money, 2 towels, and we'll try to take my car. It might be too loud so we might have to go on foot."

Sidney looks at me with confidence. This is what I'll have to do. I'll have to protect her from this point on.

I tell her im going to go pack and then go to my room. I packed everything I needed. Now all we need is the food and the tent. I really hope this works.

"It will. Have some faith in yourself. I know you'll protect her and your going to do a good job at it. Now focus. Once everyones asleep, you get to the bathroom first. Get the stuff out of the window then you get out. Then wait for Sidney."

My wolf was right. I needed to have faith in myself.
