I had walked out when I saw he wasn't looking.
The nerve he had. Saying that about me!
I walked to the blacktop and went to the tree near the fence in the way back. "The Kissing Tree" as some people called it. It was my little spot where I went to think. No kissing for me. Sitting down in front of it, I faced the school and pulled my phone out my back pocket. I didn't know what to do, so I called Chris.
"Didn't I drop you off at school?" He asked when he answered.
"Yeah, so?"
"Why are calling me?"
"Why are you questioning me?"
I snapped at him.
"I don't know, why am I?"
"I hate people!"
"Why?"
"Some guy I bumped into yesterday, I bumped into today and his cocky ass decided he was going to flirt or whatever with me-"
"FeFe, no one flirts with you, but keep talking."
"Shut up! In class he walks over and I'm messing with him just to be stupid. He takes it as me testing his patience and exploded on me. Bipolar much? I was joking and he gets his knickers in a twist."
"Oh. Yeah, I saw him looking at me when you got out the car. Then when I was driving off i saw you bump into each other and he grabbed you hand and that's it."
"Yeah, that's the boy."

After I talked to Chris, I saw Alex walking towards me.
Oh, hell no. More nerve than I thought.
"Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to blow up on you like that." I just looked at him. Amusing.
"What are you expecting?"
"Nothing. Just calm down."
"How do you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Piss me off so easily."
"I didn't even know I was doing it."
"You are."
"Just calm down. I don't know why you're yelling at me for looking you because that's all I'm doing." I stood up to face him.
"This intimidates you?" I cocked an eyebrow, laughing lifelessly.
"Not intimidate, just...I don't know. It's this thing that nags at me when you watch me like that. Your eyes stare into me and it's like you're reading beyond my words." I tilted my head to one side.
"Your smarter than you act. Why?"
"I don't know. Why are you the way you are?"
"Personal reasons." He nodded in approval and started stepping closer. I moved behind the tree.
"Ya know, you're pretty funny."
"Ha, thanks. Step away from the tree."
"What do you think I'm gonna do to you? Kill you?"
"Maybe. J-just back up some."
"You seem scared of me."
"Just back up, " I said more sternly.
"Okay, okay." I stepped back around, turning my head at a weird angle to hide my face. I knew my little act was silly, but I couldn't help it. I had my issues, just like everyone at this school had theirs.
The bell rang, ending homeroom, everyone going to their first period.
"You should go," I said, pointing toward the crowd.
"What about you?" he asked.
"Ill catch up later. Maybe in the middle of the lesson I'll make an entrance." That made him smile a little.
"Okay, see you then," he said, walking away. I nodded and sat down at the base of the tree, watching him walk away.
