Chapter 1 - Mommy? Daddy?

(Flames POV)

I stared at my Delphox mother as she sat down, waiting for Lucario, my friend Flint's dad to come back. After my dad and my friend's mom were killed, we decide to band up to survive. I still wasn't strong enough to help, so I wobbled over to Flint. I sat down next to him on a old log. "Hi Flame!" He said. I nodded back to him, smiling. His nickname was Flint and mine was Flame, long story on that one. "Kids! Dinner is ready!" Lucario yelled. I run over to my mom, sat down, and looked up eagerly. "Here" she said setting a few berries on the ground. I curled up and started to eat my berries. Food was getting scarce, trainers took from all the berry plants we used, I never seemed to be full. I rolled over on the cold hard ground, feeling sleepy. Suddenly I felt something nudge me. I looked up to see Flint roll a Oran Berry over to me and sit down next to me, watching me eat the berry. "Thanks." I whispered. Flint lied down next to me and I slowly drifted off to sleep.

I was woken up by footsteps coming toward us through the trees. Branches crackled, and soon enough everyone was awake. "Humans!" Lucario yelled. Flint jumped in front of me and slowly backed me away. I was almost paralyzed with fear, without Flint I wouldn't be able to move. I curled up and hide my face in my fur. "NO!" Lucario yelled. I looked up seeing the humans burst through the green-leafed trees, I quickly got up wanting to help, but knowing I couldn't I sat down, frowning at myself. "Look" One of them said, pointing to Lucario and Delphox. Me and Flint slowly backed into the trees, it was too late to help. Both the trainers already sent out there pokemon and they battle fiercely. My mom and Flint's dad keep going until, when they were about to fall, when both trainers pulled out an Ultra Ball. I've seen them before, capturing the pokemon that roomed this forest, sometimes even my friends. Both threw it at our parents. I cringed and curled up again, not wanting to look, but still hearing the "Beep" that meant they were caught.

(Flint's POV)

I was sitting on a log when my dad, Lucario, got back. My crush's mom, Delphox, was sitting in the grass. I saw Flame staring at her. My dad got back with some food! My dad and Delphox started making cooked berries. Flare started wobbling over to me on the log. "Hi F-Flame." I stuttered. Gah! Why did I have to stutter! She nodded back, smiling. Whew! She didn't notice my stuttering. "Kids, dinner is ready!" My dad yelled to us. I ran over, and skidded to a stop and sat down. My dad put a few Oran, Pecha, and Leppa berries in front of me. My favorite! I didn't eat all of it, I saved most of it. Food was hard to find, thanks to those pesky humans. I saw that Flame didn't have a lot of berries, so I rolled my most favorite berry, an Oran, to her. "Thanks" she whispered. She eat the Oran berry fast! I was somewhat pleased with myself. I got thanked by my crush!

I was awoken by branches being broken and shattered loudly. I saw that everyone was awake as well. Suddenly, "HUMANS!" My dad yelled. I jumped in front of Flame, hoping to help her back. She was frozen with fear. I helped her move into a bush. Adrenaline was pounding in my ears, I heard the neat of a battle between our parents and the humans. Flame and I made in into the trees, safe. I saw Flame curl up into a ball. She looked so cute, but now was not the time. I watched horrified as my dad and Delphox were beaten senseless. The humans threw ultra balls at them. I wanted to scream. I wanted to yell. I wanted to end what the humans were doing. But I couldn't. It was too late. The ultra balls clicked shut, notifying a capture. I looked at Flame. She was scared. There was nothing we could do but run.
