Max's POV

I see Kate passing our table at Lunch. I wave to her,"Hey, Kate! I saved a seat for you!"
She just mutters something under her breath, ignores me and goes somewhere near the other tables. I blink. She's never ignored me before. Maybe she didn't hear me?
"KATE! I saved a seat for you!" I say again, a little bit too loudly. Everyone except her stares at me. I go red and go up to Kate.
"Kate!" I say tapping her shoulder.
"What?" She snaps, without turning around.
"Um, it's me, Max." I say, thinking she must have mistaken me for someone else.
"I know its you. I have brains and eyes. Unlike you, who has only eyes. Or did you lose them too? Your table is there." She points.
My mouth drops open. What happened to Kate??
"What's your problem?' I ask her, annoyed.
"You!" She snaps and sits down somewhere in the corner tables.
I turn around furiously, and go back to my table.
"What happened? Where is Kate?" Asks Tom.
"She's sitting somewhere else. I guess she doesn't want to be friends with anymore! She just snapped at me that I have no brains and I'm her problem!" I say, still angry.
Everyone stays silent. I look up, and see they looked shocked.
"I guess maybe she found better friends."says Kim, looking sad.
"Let's not worry, who cares about Kate anyway? We can have fun without her!" I say trying to cheer them up. I think I see someone walk past quickly and I turn around. It's Kate. And Annie. I roll my eyes and say loudly," Sleepover at my house today. Only my friends are invited. Which means No Kate!"
I see Kate stare at me with a hurt expression and I feel a bit guilty. She turns around and leaves the cafeteria. I shrug and go back to my food.

Kate's POV
Okay, Max is really mad at me. I just ignored him a bit, and he uninvited me to his house and stopped being my friend! I had sat at another table when I see a girl with dark brown hair and eyes sit next to me. She is pretty.
"Mind if I sit here?" She asks.
"No, not at all." I smile.
"Your Kate, right? I'm Annie." She says.
"Yes. Hey, you showed me around the school!" I exclaim.
"Yeah. With Max." She laughs.
"Don't even mention his name." I roll my eyes and tell her about what happened.
"Wow, that's not like him. Maybe you should talk to him and sort it out" she suggest.
"Yeah, maybe. I haven't really given him a chance." I think out loud.
We start talking about other stuff and become friends fast. We exchange numbers too. I put my name as 💙Kate💙. She puts hers as 🤓Annie🤓.
*skip to after they leave the cafeteria*
I decide to text Max.
Max😁 and Kate🌹 have joined the chat.
Kate🌹:Hey
Max😁:um Hi I guess?
Kate🌹:We need to talk
Max😁:What talk about me not having brains???!👿
Kate🌹:No duh.🙄🙄 we won't talk about me being barf brains either🙄😟🙄
Max😁:umm okay?
Kate🌹:Park after school?
Max😁:Fine. I'll wait at your locker.
Kate🌹:Fine
Kate🌹:Wait, how do you know where my locker is??
Max😁:Ik stuff like that
Kate🌹:umm okay.. See u

Kate's POV
"What did he say?" Asks Annie.
I show her the messages.
"Okay... Do you want me to come with you?"She asks kindly.
"Nah, I think I'll be alright. But come to my house at 5. Or text/call if you can't come." I say.
"Sure thing.  I'll be there around 5:20. I have to go shopping with Mum." She replies.
I smile and change the topic. We walk together to class and sit down. I get a text.

Me:u do know I'm in middle of bio??!

Me:just shut up k??! Why is ur number not showing saved on my phone??

I can't believe it. First he's nice. Then he's super mean. Now he's okay . Like what???!
*skip to after school*
I don't know how to face him. But I have to do it. I groan. I go up to my locker. I put all my books in my bag and wait for him to come. Two minutes. Still not here. Five minutes. Is he coming?? Eight minutes. I tap my foot on the ground impatiently. Ten minutes. I hear laughing and finally Max comes round the corner with some boy. They both say goodbye and the boy leaves. I roll my eyes as Max comes towards me.
"Your ten minutes late." I say rolling my eyes again.
"Sorry. I forgot." He says.
I sigh. He's doing it again. Nice, mean, nice, mean, nice. Like what??!
*skip walk to park*
"Okay, so what do you want to talk about?" Max asks.
I take a deep breath. "Max I Don't Get It. Sometimes Your Nice Then Your Mean Then Your Nice Again!Like Seriously Who Does That?!" I scream as fast as possible.
"I was never mean! You were mean first!" He exclaims.
I roll my eyes. "Max you called me barf brain first and you know it!"
"What?? I did not!" He yells.
"I saw you with my own eyes Max!" I yell.
"It wasn't Max. It was me." Someone says softly and steps from behind the bushes.
I turn to see who it is and my mouth drops open. I gape at him then look at Max. Then I looked him again. How could I be so stupid!!?? I go up to him and say.....
