If a killing game wasn't enough to send you over the rails, then the system of a mandatory scheduled 'Free Time' would most certainly institutionalize you. You were always very anti-social, and it took a while to get used to getting into a conversation with anybody, much less the bizzare lineup of classmates that surrounded you.

Every single time someone called out to you, whether it was well-meaning or not, the muscle in your chest began beating out of a fear of judgement. Of course, you'd respond but the conversation would soon stop at that instant. You would end up running to the comfort of the library and spending the rest of the Free Time there.

But if there was a person that piked your interest; the Ultimate Detective, Saihara Shuichi. He had this atmosphere sort of like yours-timid and tense. This led you to become very close to him, and you soon developed feelings for the dark haired boy.

Today was like any normal day ,where you and Saihara hung out in the library for your Free Time. It was pretty hard to imagine that the first murder took place here,but it never really stopped you from enjoying a good read. "Hey,(L/N)-san. What are you reading right now?"Saihara asked. You closed your book,your finger in between the page you were on,and showed him. "O-oh,um... It's part mystery, part romance novel. I-I can lend it to you after I finish reading it," you replied back. "And what about you?" "I-I didn't find a book yet but I hope to soon." Silence suddenly filled the room as you went back to your book.

Turns out Saihara was lying about trying to find a book. He was actually staring at you. But you never noticed,which made his (evident) crush on you to stay on safe territory. However,that is not where he wanted your friendship with him to be. He wanted the time you spent together not just measured by a specific time that Monokuma created,but a bond that could extend beyond the killing game. (That is,if you two survived together,but he didn't want to think about the 'what-ifs' at this time.) He decided to tell you right that minute,no matter the cost of rejection

"You can do this...(Y/N)'s right there....don't be a coward and screw this up..!"he internally encouraged(?) himself,walked over to the table and grabbed your hands. Instantly,you blushed. "S-Saihara? U-Um....huh?" You barely could think. Apparently the feeling was mutual--

"(L-l/N)-san.....u-um....I-I'd like to ask you....a question!"he stuttered rather loudly,possibly due to nervousness and the blush that contrasted his pale face,almost making his face glowing red. You didn't answer,simply nodding and you let him continue. "I-I really.....u-um,is it p-possible that you....feel the same way?" "About what?"you asked,but you hoped that he was implying that if you liked him. You got your answer,as he choked out,"D-do you like me? Um...I-I like you....that's why....I hope you feel the same way!" Immediately,your face became as sweltering as a sauna and barely any sound came out for a second. Your crush liked you. Your crush liked you. SaiharafuckingShuichilikedyouandyoulikedhimomgomgomgomgomg. Suddenly,you replied,"Like you?" At first,he looked disappointed and hurt. Then,you pounced and hugged him. "Um,I,erm.....I love you!! I think I feel the same way!!"

Saihara broke into a smile and you guys spent the rest of the day in the library together. Shy nerds.
