(This is actually the first time that I write a story like this,so I'm sorry if it's terrible. I'm straight, but I can assure you that no matter what your sexual preferences are,I will not judge you. Um,angst, too. That is all. Enjoy!) Requested by: suzukaze
Bloody and beaten, stabbed in the neck with a survival knife, hands tied by coarse rope to an ordinary classroom chair in the library. The chair was covered with blood that soaked a small area around the body, and the face was blindfolded and gagged by a (P/A/C) handkerchief. The portrayed scene was one of the victim being tortured before inevitably being put out of their misery.
But this wasn't any victim, and Maki knew it, judging by the victim's skirt and the way their hair was tied. It was a person so dear to her that she vowed to protect.
A person she was close to. The only person she ever loved.
(Y/N).
Maki didn't hear the body discovery announcement, only the piercing scream of grief that she let out after witnessing this tragic event and the hurried footsteps of her fellow students. Her pulse raced and her scarlet eyes scanned the crowd that gathered around suspiciously, aiming to find the culprit that did this to her and put an end to them.
A hand was gently put on her shoulder after a while, instigating her to get out of her imagination and turn to lock eyes with Saihara, one of her good friends. "Harukawa-san, come with me please,"he gently requested, and the raven-haired female obeyed without a word, following him out of the big doors of the library.
After walking around a little bit, they finally reached their destination when she saw a familiar icon on the door; it was (Y/N)'s room. Opening the door, Saihara led Maki into the chamber of the dead girl. "Wh-why are we here?"she inquired, still internally torn. "I investigated here while you were grieving over her,"Saihara explained, then reaching into his pockets,he gave her a white envelope. Imprinted on it were neatly written letters spelling out 'To Maki-chan'. "I found this on (Y/N)'s desk. It seemed untouched for a few days, so she might've written it before she was murdered. As for why I led you here, I thought you'd want to spend some time here before the class trial,"he continued. Tears started to slip out of Maki's eyes as she muttered a "thank you" to her friend. Nodding, Saihara left the room, leaving the Assassin alone.
Opening the envelope and pulling out the letter, she sat down on (Y/N)'s bed. Hesitantly, she read aloud the letter to nobody but herself.
"To Maki-chan,
I guess that if you found this letter,I either gathered enough courage to hand this letter to you or I'm dead. But whatever happens to me, I hope you won't hate me for what I'm about to tell you. The even sadder part is that you'll probably straight-out reject me. Well...I love you. More than a best friend forever, like the romantic kind! I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure you don't like girls that way, and you'll ignore me for the rest of this game. But I'm serious; I really do love you, Maki Harukawa. The question is-do you like me?
-(Y/N) (L/N)
A strangled gasp found its way out of Maki's mouth, and she sobbed erratically. Aiming to find breath in the midst of her ever-growing despair, she whispered her response as clearly as she could, hoping that (Y/N) could here it up there.
'Yes.'
