The second leg of 24 Karat Gold was getting under way. Lindsey had arrived to check on Stevie before her first show, wanting to give her all the support and love she deserved. He stepped throught he barricade and past the black curtain into the back stage area. It was a mess! He found Stevie's dressing room and slipped inside. She was visibly nervous, giving him a weak smile as she wrung her hands when he entered the room.

"How are you doing?"

"How do I look like I'm doing?"

"No comment" Lindsey says, not wanting to upset her.

She gives him a smirk. "Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks, huh, Buckingham?"

"I've learned to shut my mouth once in a while. And who are you calling old? A certain lady is a year older than I am"

"More like 6 or 7 months, but okay, Linds. Touché!" He shakes his head, her math was way off as usual. She walks over, gives him a quick kiss on the lips. In her eyes, he can tell she's somewhere else. "So, uh, how's Jenna?"

"I didn't see her, but I'm sure she's fine"

"She's nervous"

"Maybe I can find her and help her out a little"

"You aren't exactly her best friend."

"And she's not mine, but I've been to a Stevie show or two before. I'm all about working behind the scenes" he says, a mischievous smile crossing his lips.

"Oh really?" Stevie asks, raising an eyebrow.

"Did I tell you that you look absolutely gorgeous?"

"Not today"

"I'm behind then" He leaned in for a proper kiss, his hand finding the back of her head in her long, thick waves. His tongue begs for entrance and it is quickly granted. He pushes her back toward the dressing table, stroking her face and continuing down her body. He was dying to take everything off of her, he could feel the heat radiating between them and it was almost too much. He cupped a breast, firmly massaging it through her stage clothes. Their kisses became hungry, sloppy. Anything to take her mind off her nerves was good enough for Lindsey and was he really complaining? Not at all. She lifted a leg and wrapped it around him, her platform heel digging into the back of his leg, but it only added to the pleasure. She could feel his desire and she smirked, knowing it would be torture to sit through an almost 3 hour show. She would make it up to him later.

Lindsey left not long after, going in search of Jenna. He spotted the blonde picking up a pile of papers from the floor, obviously having dropped them. Jenna was overwhelmed and near tears when he knelt down the help her.

"Hey, are you okay?" he asks. She looks up at him, embarrassment in her eyes.

"Yeah, I'm just clumsy." She stands up, taking the papers back from Lindsey. "Thanks for helping me"

"No problem" he says.

"Um, well, I guess I should get back to Stevie. I'm sure she's wondering where I am." She wipes her eyes quickly, tucking a strand of long, straight blonde hair behind her ear.

"Jenna, don't go" Lindsey says. He's drawn to this girl and it kind of freaks him out. He's only ever had this devastating pull to Stevie. What was it about her?

"I really should be. Um, which door is it?"

"Do you not know your way around yet? I would have thought by the way Stevie talked about you, you'd be a pro"

"I guess I interview well"

"I'll say! It's like you've never done this before!" Jenna stops head in her tracks, her face turning so red. The tears came again and Lindsey gasped. "What the fuck?!"

"Please, don't tell her." she begs.

"You looked so good on paper...how?"

"I know people, through my mom. They gave me references. When Stevie said it would be easy, I, I believed her" Jenna could barely gather her thoughts, she felt like such a fraud. Lower than low.

"I have to tell her, Jenna. This could ruin her."

"You don't know the half of it" Jenna mumbled.

"Sorry?" Lindsey asked, not hearing what she had said, she shakes her head. Lindsey was always a sucker for tears, he couldn't bear to see someone cry.

"What am I going to do? Sure, my mom lives here but she's away! I could barely afford my apartment as it was."

"We, uh, we will figure it out..." Lindsey said, patting the girl awkwardly on the shoulder.

"She's going to fire me."

"Maybe not"

"How? You're going to tell and I will be back to working two to three jobs just to scrape by"

"I...I won't tell"

"Really?" she asks, brightening slightly.

"You've got to figure something out though because I don't know what I'm doing either! Stevie likes everything in order and easy. Doing shows like this is a bitch when no one knows what they're doing or where they're supposed to be. I know."

"What can I do?"

"Just go to Stevie and keep her happy. Talk about shopping or...something. I will make sure Minnie and Sharon are in their spots."

"Thank you for saving me."

"You're welcome" She places a hand on his shoulder and smiles at him. Once again he is drawn in by her eyes. She turns around, reading the marked doors to find her boss. Lindsey exhaled heavily, running his hands through his hair. "What a fuckin mess" he said to himself.

The techs are running around, making sure everything is ready for Stevie as Chrissie ends her set. Things are a blur and he has never felt more anxious, nervous and physically sick in his life. He vaguely remembers kissing Stevie as she passes through and hearing her opening remarks about how this set is different than previous tours and that she has dug through her so-called "gothic trunk" of songs. Jenna gives him a feather light peck on his cheek, thanking him for all of his hard work and shuffles to the side of the stage to watch Stevie's show. He mindlessly moves to stand next to the younger petite blonde, in awe of the mature, radiant blonde before him.

"Come with me!" she exclaims into the microphone, preparing for her first song. She looks briefly at Lindsey who seems awfully cozy with her new assistant and gives him a small smile.

'I love you' he mouths and she blows him a kiss in response. "Off we go!" Lindsey says, rubbing his hands together. He never gets tired of her magic.

"This is so cool, Linds!" Jenna tells him, so excited to watch what was about to unfold. She pressed herself into his side and his arm fell naturally around her. She felt so safe, like never before. She could get used to this!
