Jenna is feeling awfully pleased with herself as the evening draws near. She has to stop herself from blowing the whole thing. She's so excited. She gets herself dressed up a in a little black dress, tights and high heeled black ankle boots. She curls her hair, (having it cut recently into a long, slightly asymmetrical bob from the long hair she's had all her life) and does her makeup, carefully creating the perfect winged liner look, filling in her brows and applying a dark vampy lip. She went in search of the perfect little bag to take with her, humming a tune, singing a few words here and there.
"Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match. Find me a find, catch me a catch. Matchmaker, matchmaker look through your book and make me a perfect match" She stumbles upon a vintage beaded bag that Stevie had given her as a gift and knows it's perfect. She puts her few belongings in it, her phone fitting perfectly, and goes to get Stevie.
Meanwhile....
Lindsey is looking handsome as ever. He's freshly showered, carefully dries his curls and sprays on a little cologne. The one he chooses at random just happens to be Stevie's favorite. He does decide to dress up a little, per Jenna's request. He chooses a pair of fitted black trousers, black boots and a black button down shirt. He wears the chain Stevie had given him and checks his appearance once more before going to the florist to pick up his bouquet.
Not too far down the road, Stevie is also getting ready for the evening. She hasn't been out in such a long time and she wants to have fun! She's blasting music, dancing around and hardly able to apply her makeup due to all the bouncing. She didn't realize how giddy she would be to spend a night out with a girl half her age. She deserved to let her hair down, after all. Stevie decided to show a little more skin, dowse herself in perfume oil, and place soft curl her long blonde hair. She chose a bag and a great pair of heels, checking her appearance in the mirror quickly, just as Jenna had arrived. She rarely wore color but she decided to tonight, feeling a little more adventurous. It was more formfitting than usual too, accentuating her curves.
Jenna smiled as Stevie came down the stairs, to meet her at the car.
"Damn you look amazing!" Jenna said. "Sexy lady!"
"Thank you! You look beautiful as always. I love your new hair! You dress so much like my niece. I feel like you two would really get along"
"Thanks! We should all hang out one day!"
"I think that can be arranged"
"So are you ready to have some fun?"
"Definitely. This week has been hell. I'm ready to forget."
"Then that's exactly what we will do" The women spend the car ride singing to music on the radio and Jenna was shocked Stevie was so modern. She knew almost every word to every song that played! Upon arrival, Jenna noticed her dad's car already in the lot.
"This place seems really trendy, Jenna. I don't know if I will fit in." Stevie said, suddenly very self conscious.
"Oh come on! You're Stevie fucking Nicks! You're cooler than anyone here"
"No..."
"Yes! Be confident! Isn't that what you tell your fans? Walk in there like you walked through San Jose State in your one really nice outfit with your guitar in your hand."
Stevie laughed. "Okay, I can definitely do that" Jenna linked arms with her and walked into the restaurant. The hostess whispered something to Jenna and Stevie noticed a smile creeping across her lips. They were then taken through to the back in a private room. Before getting there, Jenna suddenly turns around and looks at Stevie.
"Why don't you let them take you back? I have to use to bathroom."
"I can come with you. I don't want to sit alone."
"Don't worry about it. You will be fine and so will I. You have my number if you really need me but it will just be a second, I swear."
"Alright" Stevie says and follows the hostess the rest of the way.
Stevie is shocked at the size of the room. It's very nice, lush velvet curtains and a stage for live music, a huge bar and lots of very attractive bartenders, male and female. The atmosphere is amazing, the music isn't loud but it's not soft like other places she had been. Once again, she begins to feel self conscious. Everyone is literally a third her age. Stevie didn't even notice she wasn't following anymore, admiring the warm lighting she loved so much.
"Miss" the hostess said, getting attention.
"Yes?"
"Right this way."
Stevie turned around and saw there was someone sitting at the table she would share with Jenna. The person lowered their menu and she was immediately met with familiar eyes. She couldn't speak. She looked at the man before her. His eyes were gentle and calm, sparkling like stars. He stood at the sight of her, completely enthralled. "Wow, you look..." he begins, words failing him. He knew she hated when he stared but he couldn't help it.
"Lindsey"
"I um, I took the liberty of ordering a bottle of wine. I...I didn't know you were joining us..."
"Us?"
"Jenna invited me for dinner"
"Me too" Stevie said.
"Speak of the devil!" Lindsey said, seeing Jenna come back with a mischievous grin. "You are in such big trouble!" he said, hugging his daughter.
"Hi, daddy. Did you see our special guest?"
"I sure did"
"And doesn't she look beautiful?"
"Stunning" he says and Stevie lowered her eyes, blushing slightly.
"I was told to bring flowers because Jenna apparently loves flowers..." Lindsey rolled his eyes.
"You did good, Dad" Jenna said, inspecting the huge red roses.
"Thanks"
"Now give them to Stevie" Lindsey felt awkward, considering Stevie had barely spoken a word to him since they had laid eyes on each other.
"They're beautiful, thank you" Stevie said, inhaling their scent. She smiled and Lindsey breathed a sigh of relief.
Jenna suddenly looked at her phone. "Oh no!" She exclaimed.
"What?" They asked in unison.
"Wow, you will never believe this but I have a, um...really important...thing that I was supposed to go to and I'm running late!" she said, not being a gifted actress in the least.
"Really? Oh what a shame" Lindsey said in very much the same way and Stevie giggled from behind her flowers.
"Yes, oh I'm so sorry! I hate to leave so suddenly!" Jenna told them, hugging each of them good bye. "I hope you can find a way to have fun without me."
"Somehow, I think we will be fine" Stevie said and Lindsey lit up like a Christmas tree.
"Alright, well have a good night! Be good." Jenna turned and left, looking over her shoulder to see Stevie getting pretty cozy at the table with her dad, almost immediately. "Score! Point for Jenna!" she says to herself, giggling as she hurried back out to her car.
