Lorian woke with a start. His arm was aching from the fight he had yesterday. He started to get up.
" I would take it easy if I were you" said the girl.
Her sudden approach startled Lorian.
"where am I" questioned Lorian.
" In my camp just outside of the village. You fainted after fighting those guards. By the way thank you for warding off the guards. I was for sure thought they were going severely hurt me this time."
" It was no problem, I hate seeing innocent bystanders be hurt by my own guards."
" wait, your guards??"
" yeah"
" Who exactly are you?"
" I'm Lorian "
" YOU MEAN THE LORIAN, THE STUNNING PRINCE THAT RULES OVER THIS LAND "
" yep but if you could , please calm yourself you could attract the darkness"
Lorian sat up.
" If you're here then who has rein over the land?"
" Take a guess "
The girl dropped her mouth in shock.
" But that means ...... we're doomed"
" Not quite, they tried to kill me but it backfired"
" How did you even survive?"
" Somehow when I was in the proccess of dying instead of the darkness killing my insides it seemed to have absorbed it."
Lorian unwrapped the bandages that were covering his right arm. His arm was still black as night. The girl looked at it astonished.
"So that's why when you stabbed that guard he didn't die, your sword absorbed the darkness that possessed him. It explains why the guards were acting the way they did."
"yep, by the way I never did learn your name, what is it?"
"It's Rose"
"Hmm... beautiful name, say don't you have any family?"

Rose shook her head.
" My parents died back when I was 15 years old. My mom fell ill and my dad was nursing her back to health. The illness was bad and my dad was doing everything he could to find a way to cure her. He came across an old hermit that lived in the marshlands, she said that she knew how to cure her. Later that night I had trouble falling asleep. All of a sudden I heard a deafinning scream. I rushed into my parents bedroom and the hermit was laughing and killing my mother. My father tried to fight her off but she killed him too. I was so afraid that I ran out of the house and never looked back. i was afraid that she was going to find me and share the same fate that they had."
Rose stared into the fire. The flames lit up her freckled face and it made her ocean blue eyes a bit darker. Lorian walked over and sat next to her.
" I'm sorry for what happened to your parents, it must have been hard for you to survive out there all alone."
" Yeah" Rose said dully.
Lorian also looked into the hot flames with her. He thought back whenever his father had died trying to protect him.
"Hey" Lorian Whispered softly.
" Yeah" answered Rose.
" Why don't you travel with me?"
"Are you sure I don't want to get in your way".
"It'll be fine , I promise"
"I guess..".
Lorian smiled. Rose looked down and turned slightly pink. There was nothing but silence as they both stared into the flames together.
