My jaw widely dropped. "Polly, like your sister? The one no ones seen in ages?"

Betty nodded. "That's the one."

I was beyond shook. Betty  was care taking for Polly the entire time, because she's pregnant. It all made sense. She was shocking up on stuff for the baby. And the booze, well that was also probably for Polly. She didn't have a bit of an alcoholic vibe to her.

"Wait, you've been care taking for her this entire time?" I said, pretending to not know the answer.

"Yep." Betty answered, as expected. "When I found out where she was right around the beginning of August, I snuck her out. No one has found her yet, so I've been bringing her my school lunches, baby supplies, and pretty much anything needed to survive. One of the south side serpents were giving me money to buy everything, since I couldn't afford it all."

"It's just a mess." Betty continued. "Polly is just in a huge rut and it's so much pressure for me." She wipes away a lone tear from her cheek. "I'm glad I told you Juggie."

"I glad you told me too." I answered. "I was extremely worried about you."

"I understand why." Betty continued. "I didn't want anyone to know, especially not any of the gang."

I grab onto her small shoulder. "Hey, it's okay Betty. I may not know what this is like completely, but I have a good understanding."

Her sad, puppy dog eyes bolted up to meet mine. Seeing her this sad wasn't a highlight but I'm glad she confessed. And a bonus, was the tension growing in the room. Not awkward, but romantic.

Something was happening in those moments we just store at each other. It felt like we were having one of those movie moments, where you don't know what to do at all. You're head is full of too many thoughts, you're heart is beating uncontrollably, you feel weak; it all hits you so fast.

Was this a moment or another one of my unrealistic dreams?

Something was beginning, though what was undefined. Betty never treated me in a way this good before. It's like every time we were alone, sparks were there, almost like the sparklers you use on the 4th of July.

"Betty I-" I begin to shutter.

But before I can finish the door opens to Veronica's apartment. The raven stands and watches as we slowly back away from each other, like nothing was about to happen.

"Get in love birds." Veronica growled. "I'm not letting your little romance get in the way of the baby shower I planned. Now enjoy the party."

I cross my eyes over to Betty, to see she has done the same. By the look in her eyes I knew what she meant. It was like we shared a mind just for a second.

The two of us re-enter the room. This time I knew Betty was gonna fake it. Her eyes are kind of a gateway to her thoughts. As eyes are for serval people. It's one of the many uses of eyes.

But as we entered the room, there was one hawk who was hunting out their prey. But it wasn't light, it was a heavy load.

Cheryl Blossom.

But something about this stare that utterly worried me. It seem like this had to do with Betty. And like I've noticed in Betty's eyes, Cheryl's had that same element of mind reading.

Something bad was about to happen.

A few moments later I see her pouring vodka into tiny shot glasses and pouring each one into a cup. She did this until nearly 2/3 of the glass was full. The rest was all water.

I had to stop her, but before I could even reach her, she walked across the room to Betty.

I knew what was gonna happen.

I'm never one to pray to god, but I did in this moment. I was beyond worried for Betty, and the sake of her secret.

Oh please save Betty.
