You were an average sixteen year old girl/boy living in Gotham. Nothing really stood out about you. You like music, drawing and a good nap. Everyday was like it was on repeat. Until one day, something happened.

~

With a small skip in your step, you make your way home from school. Today, you had been chosen to represent your school in the national science fair. You weren't exactly super smart, but apparently you were enough to represent your school. You were nervous but excited.

As you walked home to tell your mom the good news, you hear a single gunshot, a scream and then nothing. Your stomach drops to the floor as you feel an overwhelming sense of dread wash over you. You didn't know why, but you needed to get home as fast as possible. Suddenly you take off running towards your house.

Hoping that everything was ok, you round the corner and bump into someone head on. The man pushes you aside and locks eyes with you for half a second. Your eyes quickly scan him over and you see a gun in hand along with random items. He looks scruffy with dark brown hair and green eyes.

Before you can register a thought after, he takes off running and you shake your head furiously. You can't focus on him right now. You run towards your house and you feel your stomach lurch once you reach it.

The front door is wide open, the window is smashed and you hear sobs coming from inside the house. Slowly you make your way inside. You see a body hunched over something.

You slowly approach as your heart skips a beat. Your hold your breath as you recognize your mother as the one sobbing.

"M-Mom? Mom?" You say nervously as you place a hand on her shoulder.

She turns to you slowly with tears pouring out of her bruised eyes. He must have hit her. Her cheeks are flushed red and pain is etched across her face. You look past her and see your baby sister with blood all over her chest.

Her eyes are closed but her jaw hangs slack in a permanent cry. A sob catches in your throat. You hear sirens approaching and you fall to your knees.

"Don't look." Your mother chokes out.

You want to look away, but you can't. The lifeless body in your mothers arms hold your gaze. Your body suddenly feels like lead as your head starts to ring like mad.

You suck in a shuddering breath and let out a scream. Hot tears fall down your stricken face as you cry. Your hand reaches for your baby sister and you grab her small hand. It's so cold.

"No .. no .. no no no. This can't be happening." You mumble out.

You hear men shouting and sirens wailing. Your hear the pounding of heavy feet approaching but you stay still. Someone pulls you away from your sister and drags you to an ambulance.

"No! Let me go! Please!" You scream out between sobs. You didn't want to leave her. You couldn't leave her.

The small spot in your hand where you held your sisters feels empty as they set you on a gurney.

Once again, you head begins to feel light and it begins to throb. With an increasing heart rate, you fall back onto the ambulance bed. The world began to fade in and out as you hear a nurse ask your questions. The words blur into one and your hearing resides to just a ringing sound.
