Way too early my alarm went off - like always. 6am it read on my phone. Yawning I pushed the covers off my body and got up. Under the shower I decided on my outfit for today - a grey blouse and that leather skirt. My hair went up too. Next to my wedding ring the only jewelry I would be wearing was the set Justin gave to me back for my 24th birthday in Ibiza. Oh how different things were back then...
Soon after I made it down to the kitchen and opened the fridge finding my acaibowl for the day with a note. "Enjoy your breakfast Emma, it's yellow today." Smiling I took it out and sat down at the breakfast bar. Sue was the best. During breakfast I skimmed through the news on my iPad. This was my usual routine. Gotta keep yourself updated on what's going on in this crazy world. Next I read some industry news sipping my coffee and before I knew it I was already finished. After stowing my breakfast utensils into the dishwasher I grabbed my things and headed outside. 7.15am - perfect timing. Of course the car was ready for me and my driver held the door open for me. "Good morning, Emma!"
"Good morning Frank." I smiled warmly at him. While he drove me to work I checked my mails in the back of the Maybach. I liked to take this time to get ready for my workday, doing a mental run through so that I was prepared.
At 8am sharp I walked into the building greeting all sorts of people on the way - people that all knew me while I had no idea what kind of work they did here. The elevator was held open for me and I jogged to catch it. "Thank you!" I smiled at some shy looking guy who had already pressed the top button for me. The elevator stopped a few times and people got out until it was just me and him. 5th floor - so he works in accounting. "Have a good day." I shot him another smile.
"Thanks. You too Mrs Lockwood."
Finally I reached my floor and walked all the way through until the end where my office was located shooting "Good morning"s and "Hello"s left and right on my way.
"Good morning, Emma!" Rachel smiled at me.
"Good morning, Rachel." I smiled at her entering my office. She followed me in there.
"Your coffee." A large cup of Americano with two extra shots was placed on my table as per usual.
"Thank you Rachel, you know you don't have to do this every day, right?" I shot her a warm smile while firing up my computer and setting my bag on the floor.
"I know. Here is your schedule for today." She smiled at me placing a printout on my table. Picking it up I skimmed through. "Thank you. Anything else?" I asked still focused on the paper in my hand.
"Keith wants to speak with you about the monthly report and Scooter Braun called." Ugh! Again I put the cup to my mouth. Coffee was the only thing that would safe me today - as per usual.
"Alright. I haven't even looked at the numbers yet." I joked.
"I emailed them to you with the analytics."
"Thanks, that's perfect! Is Keith here already?" I wondered usually he didn't get in before 10.
"Yep. Something's up." Raising my eyebrows I took another sip of my coffee. "Okay. Thank you. No calls please for the next hour so I have time to look over the numbers."
"Sure. See you later." And with that Rachel left and I got to start my day. Alright, let's do this!
Opening my emails, I ignored everything other than the ones from Rachel and Keith. When I was through with them it was already half past. Great - nothing done but half an hour in. Next I opened the excel sheet Rachel had prepared for me and opened the monthly report on the other screen. It took me a moment to go through the figures and understand what was going on. Ten minutes later I knew why Keith wanted to talk to me - we were running low on liquidity.
