Her eyes were already wide open when she awoke from her nightmare. It was odd. That her eyes had not watered or burned from her involuntary action. She was actually frightened that she slept with her blank stare out in the open for anyone to see.

But...there wasn't a single person with her. The bare room exposed millions of rays of light but not a single breathing person. She didn't know why but...she felt lonely and abandoned. It had always been this way. Where no one paid attention to the average girl who broke inside.

The dream terrified her. Now, she wanted someone to explain what was going on. Except, there wasn't anybody there.

Her gaze fell to the mask on her face. She watched as it fogged up with her breath.

Why...am I here?

Altaria carefully lifted her arm and cried out. Every fiber in her being burned and hurt. Her skin was scratched raw and the skin was a dark red. Tears of pain pooled in her eyes.

How could anyone do this to someone?

Her right arm was broken and healing while her left was mutilated and also healing. She was breaking both inside and outside.

The paper under her body crinkled with every movement she made. Not that she wanted to move at all. Everything ached.

Still. She wanted to leave the barren room. Her muscles tensed and slowly, she eased one leg off the bed.

"Aaugggh!!" Her breaths came in harsh gasps. Cold fingers suddenly gripped her wrists and hauled her back onto the bed.

Although her eyes were almost swollen shut and her sight was blurred from her tears, Altaria didn't see a clear figure. In fact, when she lay still in the bed again, no one made a comment on her actions.

She only heard her breathing. Then she heard it. A chair scraping against the floor. Her entire body tensed up and she quickly looked to her left.

But there was nobody there.

Calm down. It's just your imagination. You're really stressed out.

And she believed that. So, carelessly, she closed her eyes and let the pain numb her into sleep.

Once again. She was dreaming. Her demons just couldn't leave her alone. This time she was tied to a chair in a dank and smelly closet.

Her hair was sticking to her face as she tried not to gag on the disgusting rag tied to her mouth.

At least her body didn't ache as much as it did in the real world. Her fingers were stiff though. Altaria yanked on the rope and successfully loosened one hand.

With her freed hand, she ripped the gag from her mouth and took in big gulps of air.

Why can't kidnappers afford some cleaner equipment. I mean seriously!
