It was one day left until Kevin and Alyssa's wedding, or Kevlyssa as Avi liked to call them. Since they were both pure and responsible people, the couple had decided to just have a movie night with all their friends instead of having a crazy bachelor party. Kirstin obviously knew Avi would be invited, so she wasn't the slightest bit surprised when she saw him there, but she was surprised when she saw Esther, their old tour manager and her best friend.
...and Avi's sister.
"Esther!" Kirstin exclaimed, jumping into the arms of her friend. It felt like a lifetime since she had last seen her, so it was a pleasant surprise to be reunited. "What are you doing here?"
"I got invited to the wedding, silly! I could only fly out yesterday because the twins were ill recently," Esther said with a huge grin plastered on her face. After becoming pregnant with twins, Esther moved to New Zealand with her husband, Darien. Kirstin often gushed and commented on Esther's Instagram pictures of the two little girls, they were absolutely adorable. "We have so much to catch up on."
"Hey, you know I'm here too?" Avi said dramatically causing them all to laugh. Kirstie sauntered to where the bass was standing and wrapped her arms around him. Esther almost choked on the cocktail she was sipping; she was completely unaware that the two were on speaking terms so it was the surprise of her to see the two being civil.
Esther cleared her throat before saying, "Umm, Kirstie? Could I speak to you for a minute?" She didn't even wait for a reply as she was already in the process of dragging the blonde to the other side of the room. "Are you and my brother together again?" Esther asked in a hushed voice.
"Oh my goodness, no! We're just friends. I could never have feelings for him again, no offence," Kirstie tried her best to lie but Esther was like her other sister, she could read her openly like a book.
Esther scanned Kirstin up and down with raised eyebrows. "Okay. I know you have the hots for him again but I won't push on the subject. Whenever you're ready to talk, we'll talk." The brunette squeezed Kirstin's arm in a loving nature before returning to where the life of the party was. Kirstin was left there dumbfounded for a moment before also making her way to where everyone was.
Everyone was seated in the living room around the TV, waiting for the movie to come on. Kirstin noticed an empty seat next to Avi on the floor and took it gratefully. She leaned towards Avi and whispered, "What movie are we watching?"
"Frozen," Avi replied casually and Kirstin's eyes lit up immediately.
"I love that movie!" Kirstin yelled a little bit too loudly as everyone in the room shushed her. Avi chuckled at her excitement but quickly stopped as the movie began to play on the screen. They watched in silence until For the First Time in Forever came on and Kirstin couldn't contain herself any longer. She belted the lyrics and everyone joined in, singing off key at the top of their lungs. Avi found it extremely adorable how her eyes scrunched up when she hit a particularly high note which always came out as an angelic sound. They continued the movie but eventually the song Love Is an Open Door came on and Kevin jumped up, starting the first line.
"All my life has been a series of doors in my face, and then suddenly I bump into you," He sang to Alyssa, causing everyone to make a series of 'aww' noises. As the song progressed, more people began to stand up and sing to their partners. The only people being left out were Esther, Avi and Kirstin - although, Esther had a partner, he was just in New Zealand. Kirstin and Avi glanced nervously at each other, both aching for one of them to make the first move. After what felt like years, Avi stood up and serenaded Kirstin with his reassuring, bass voice.
"Life could be so much more with you," he sang with a cute smile on his face, causing the blonde to blush. He held out one of his hands for Kirstin to take, which she did. He pulled her up with so much strength that she collapsed in his arms - not that she minded. He twirled her around clumsily which made her laugh even more. She didn't even care that she could basically feel Esther's eyes bore into her the entire time.
Once the song had finished they both collapsed back on the floor, panting like old men. Kirstin noticed Avi's eyes had already started to droop and his body started to sway. "You can put your head in my lap if you want. I can see you're ready to fall asleep any second." Avi would've denied it any other day, it wasn't very polite, but he was so tired that he didn't care about anything else. He gratefully accepted Kirstin's offer and placed his head on her lap, sighing at how comfortable it was. Kirstin started to play with the curls that were peeking out from his beanie and studied his face. His nose, his well defined eyebrows, his lips. She had a sudden yearn to see how they felt against hers but managed to control herself.
"Thanks, Kirst," was the last thing Avi said before drifting into a peaceful sleep.
