The Song Which Is On Loop

I had hit upon this song a few days back, when I was randomly going through my YouTube suggestions. It was released around 10 years ago, so naturally I didn't want to view it. It was a lyric video, but somehow the thumbnail caught my eyes.

"Oh, it's what you do to me..."

Figured it was some kind of clichéd love song. You know, the boy loves the girl, but she's out of his league and all. I was stressed, and thought maybe love songs would do me good. So I tapped on it.

It started with a name. The boy was calling out to the girl. They were apart by a thousand miles, and he made sure she got to know his love by his song. He proceeded to tell her how pretty she looked that night, how bright she shone, even brighter than Times Square.

The only background music were the soft guitar chords, the same chords playing in a loop. The male, love-driven, soft yet heavy voice reverberated in my ears as he hit the chorus.

"Oh, it's what you do to me,
Oh, it's what you do to me..."

The line kept on repeating, and even if repetitive chorus usually piss the hell out of me, somehow this seemed to sooth my mind. I found it amusing that someone would go to lengths to repeat a line five times to express his love.

The other paragraphs had the same tune, the same voice, trying his best to convey his voice across the world.

The lyrics were immensely intriguing. I got this feeling the boy was trying hard to keep her happy, and make her feel good.

"I know the times are getting hard
But just believe me, girl,
Someday I'll pay the bill, with this guitar..."

The whole song was about a promise made by the guy to his girl. That no matter what, he was going to get to her. He nicely covered up the hurdles he was going to face with his hopes to get through.

The song proceeded to speak how special and exclusive he felt, being in love with her. How it was completely theirs, and never felt the same by anybody else.

"Our friends would all make fun of us,
And we'd just laugh along because we'd know,
That none of them have felt this way..."

It ended with the same chorus, and I realized it had been long since I'd listened to something like that. Something bubbling with hopes and love and promises. True, love songs littered every corner of the world, but this song seemed so unearthly. This kind of love seemed unreal to me.

Just a few guitar strokes and twenty six letters made up something I had no idea existed. It seemed so pure-the feelings, the lyrics, the love, the pain.

It's been on loop ever since in my phone. I never get tired of that warm sensation it spreads across my chest. It unearthed certain emotions in me, completely alien to me. I cannot seem to relate this song to someone else, no. Just the song itself feels so beautiful. Probably because it speaks of something I still believe is impossible.

I've never been a fan of love songs, but this is far from one. It didn't have that feeling of one sidedness, that most songs seem to have. The boy is aware how much the girl is smitten with him, hence building an air of security which fuels his hopes.

The sweet everyday words that the writer used seem to trigger the emotions more. It didn't have the heavy words and deep thoughts to depict his heart. It talked about how they were going to get together after she finished school, and how he was going to write her songs to make her fall for him harder.

"If every simple song I wrote to you,
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all,
Even more in love with me you'd fall.."

I do not wish to live this song, however resplendent it seems. I like to admire the song from the distance, like you do, when you're watching two birds chirping and jumping on a tree, knowing that you cannot be a part of them, so you just gulp in the beauty as much as you can. The song is not meant to be lived, to be experienced. It's too precious and unreal for that. It serves to shovel up the buried feelings and restoring faith in love. It's like a model, that people try to copy, but doesn't quite seem to do the same. The song is meant to go down centuries, dwelling in the hearts of those who are worthy of it.

Because, love is not for everyone, and neither is this song.

"That by the time that we get through,
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame..."

Hey there!
I'm not gonna mention the name of the song here, and yes, it does exist. It's quite a popular song, and many of you may have already guessed it. Those who haven't and wish to know, I've provided the original lyrics, so you can search it up.

Trust me, it's really beautiful. :)
