"I think we never take time to appreciate those who said would never leave, and actually did stay by our side. We have this habit of taking everyone for granted, that they will stay with us, because the lies they spin are too sweet to resist. Most never do, honestly. These 'most' can range from the person you met over the internet a few months back to your thirteen year old best friend. We get along with them so easily that we turn blind to all the possibilities of separation that might occur at some point of time. We start expecting at our own oblivion, create pending futures with them, and when they leave, we act like we are surprised. Like they were meant to stay with us, and whatever they did is unthinkable. Unprecedented. Like it has never happened before. Like we've never done the same thing to others. When it comes to emotional attachments, we are nothing but fools.

Because all those talks till midnight and impromptu movie plans and crying over a stupid movie and crushing over the same person are momentary. These are perfect memory material. The SMSs of low balance and the movie tickets and the chocolate wrappers and the tears will be the only traces of their existence in your life once they leave.

But I wouldn't have been breathing and not breaking down if not for those who somehow by some twist in fate decided to stay. Stay by me, or at least, in my life. Personally, I don't ask people to stay. You don't do something of that sort. Because if they want to leave and you're not letting them go, it gets even messier. But those who don't need some kind of backward forces to stay and stick to you through everything, well, they're jewels. Pick them up and store them in a jar. Hide the jar. Don't let them go away. It is recommended to stay alone without any kind of ungodly dependence on others, but it won't hurt to share your existence with some who found you tolerable enough to not let go. "

Expert advice: Get cats instead of human beings. They're better at life than we are.
