Sydney's POV
Honestly I'd never seen Jen so upset. Never. Even when she was with Michael, and he was terrible to her, I'd never seen her cry so much. And the worst part, was that there was really nothing I could do about it. I couldn't go and track down Adam, because personally I was disgusted with him also.
But as much as I told myself I shouldn't try to find him, I knew that I had to go and talk to him, about what I had no idea.
So I made sure Jen was asleep before I crept out of my apartment that we'd been sharing for a few days and to my car. I started it and drove off to the only place I thought he would be, a place that I never thought he would end up at.
The bar was small and dingy, but I knew it was close enough to Adam's house that he'd end up here especially after he told us he'd been drunk for the first time. And I knew that once you get drunk, you do it again. I knew from experience.
I hardly wanted to walk in there right now, seeing as I chose to wear tight jeans and a slim fitting shirt. But I grabbed my car keys and hopped out, taking a deep breath and entering. It was almost pitch black, smelled like stale cigarettes and vodka, and had barely any customers. I searched through the place, squinting my eyes so I could make out any faces. I saw a guy and a girl sucking each other's faces, and to my horror thought to myself 'Could be Adam, we know how he works now.' I snickered at my thought even though I knew it was rude, and continued to look. I saw a few more guys alone at the bar, drinking way too much and laughing too loudly at nothing.
Finally, my eyes laid on a man hunched over in the corner of the space, one drink in front of him with half of it gone. By his messy bed hair and muscular form, I knew it was Adam. I quickly walked over and sat across from him, not even bothering to say hello.
"Sydney?" Adam looked up in surprise.
"Yeah. I need to talk to you." I blinked from the cigar smoke that was like a cloud covering the whole bar.
"How'd you even find me?"
"It wasn't hard, but that doesn't matter." I set my hands on the table, crinkling my nose.
"What do you have left to say? I believe you cussed me out a few days back. And if that's why you came, just leave. I'm beating myself up about it already.."
"I just need to know, why. I mean I know why, but like, how the hell could you?" I started raising my voice. "She loved you, no, loves you so much, and you ruined everything!"
"You think I don't know that? You think I don't tell myself that everyday? That I could've had a girl like her, and I fucked it up like everything else? She was all I had and I threw it away. Don't act like I have no idea what's going on, like I'm oblivious to what I did. Because I sure as hell am not. I damn well know." Adam seethed, so close to my face I could smell the alcohol laced on his breath.
"I know, but I-" I was cut off by a girl barging into the bar, yelling.
"Adam YOUNG?" She screamed.
"Sadie?"
"I have a whole shit load to tell you, ass hole." She pushed me further into the booth and sat down.
"What?"
"I'm pregnant."
Adam's eyes widened, and he sat back, almost spilling his drink over.
I burst out laughing, laughing at how fucked up the situation was. He got this other girl pregnant. While he was dating Jen.
Shit, Jen! How would she even take this?
"Have fun telling Jen." I smiled and pushed my way out of the booth.
"Oh my-" Adam swore under his breath and ran after me.
"Sydney! How am I supposed to tell her?"
"Figure it out."
"Can you please-"
"No, oh my gosh. You have to do something yourself besides knock girls up." I glowered, beginning to leave again.
"Please, please. I'll handle it after, just please tell her, I have to figure this out too." Adam begged.
"I-I," I stuttered. "Fine, but that's it."
"Thank you so much, Sydney."
I left the bar and went straight home to where Jen was waiting for me, cooking food and watching TV.
"Where were you? I woke up and you were gone!" Jen stirred something in a big pot.
"I...I went to a bar to find Adam, to talk to him." I couldn't lie to her after this happened to her.
"Why?" Her face fell.
"I needed to know why he did it, and I just, I did it for you."
"Oh, well. Thanks. What did he say?"
"That he hates himself for it and everything. There's something else..."
"He hates himself! Ha!" She burst out.
"Jen."
"What?"
"Adam got Sadie pregnant."
