Reio goes a month without talking to anyone, including her family. She does her Queenly duties during the day and cries herself to sleep every night. No one has heard anything from Rhint, including his best friend Ice. Reio is worried about him, hoping he is alright and safe.

One morning, Reio woke up to a strong need to puke. She hugs the toilet for a while, every heave making her feel worse. One of the maids heard her and called Remy. Reio refused to see him at first, but he insisted and forced his way into her room.

Reio glared at him as she sat down in the chair in front of the vanity. "I said I don't need a doctor."

Remy remained blank faced as he set his bag on the bed. "How long have you been feeling sick?"

Reio hadn't expected him to ask medical questions first. She thought he was going to scold her for not returning anyone's calls for a month. "Just a few days now."

Remy pulled out a pad of paper and started writing. "Did you eat anything new? Were you around someone else that was feeling sick?"

"No." Reio answered. She had only seen Remy in doctor mode a few times. It was weird that he wasn't smiling. He always smiles.

Remy scratches away before setting everything down on the bed. "Could you please lie down on the bed?"

Reio obeys, wondering what was going to happen next. Remy pulls the chair over and sits down beside her.

"Relax, this isn't going to hurt." Remy says before placing his hand over her stomach, directly on top of her belly button.

Reio watches as clouds of golden smoke emit from Remy's palms, encircling his wrists. His eyes are closed, but she knew that they were turning white. She had seen him use his powers before, but never imagined he'd be using them on her.

After a few minutes of silence, Remy opened his eyes and the smoke vanished. "You are pregnant, Reio."

She wasn't expecting that answer. "I'm what?'

Remy removed his hand from her stomach, allowing her to sit up. "Is it Rhint's?"

Reio bristled at his blunt question. "Why are you asking me that?"

"You think we didn't notice Sam hanging around the house the entire time you were visiting?"

That 'we' really hit Reio hard. That meant her brothers knew about all this too. "I don't want to talk about this anymore."

Remy sighed, looking down at his hands. "Reio, your brothers are driving themselves crazy with worry. Sydney has threatened to slap some sense into you. I've had to lock Sam in the office to keep him from coming here."

"Why are you doing all that?" Reio asked, fighting back tears. "What are you trying to get me to understand?"

"I was giving you time to come to your senses." He answered, locking eyes with her. "I figured you needed time to work this mess out yourself. Turns out I was wrong."

Reio didn't answer. She was too focused on keeping her emotions at bay. Remy was guilting her into making a decision instead of moping around. She had to choose, Sam or Rhint. There was also the news about the pregnancy, and who the father was.

"I can do a paternity test." Remy answered, probably reading her mind. "It will take a few days but I can tell you for sure who the father is."

Reio shook her head, twisting the sheets around her fingers. "I don't know where Rhint is."

"I can just run one on you and Sam. If it's negative then the answer will be obvious." Remy stood up and repositioned the chair before grabbing his bag.

Reio waited till he had his back to her before speaking again. "Are you going to tell the others?"

Remy didn't turn around when he spoke. "It's not my business to. But I suggest you at least tell Sam."

Reio nodded, though she knew he couldn't see. "Remy, I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused you. You don't have to keep running interference for me."

Remy sighed before setting his bag down and turning to face her. He opened his arms and motioned her over. Reio nearly bolted from the bed into his arms, nearly losing the fight with her emotions. Remy wrapped his arms around her, rubbing her back gently.

"Even though I am upset with you, you know I still care for you like you were my own blood." Remy's voice was soft, soothing. "If you need anything, you tell me."

Reio took a deep breath, forcing her voice to not shake. "I will Remy. Thank you."

Remy kissed the top of her head before pulling away. "Good luck, ma chérie."

Reio waited until Remy was gone before calling a messenger. She handed him a folded up piece of paper.

"I need you to go to this address and bring Sam Jessi here. Make sure no one sees you."

Reio then spends her waiting time pacing her room. She is nervous that Sam will be angry and act just like Rhint did. She was also worried about how she was going to tell him.

The door to her room bursts open, making her jump. Sam was standing there looking angrily at her. He took a few steps inside, letting the door close on its own.

"Sam, I-" Reio choked on her words, tears flooding her eyes.

The anger in Sam's eyes disappeared as he moved to envelope her in his arms, hugging her close. "Take your time. I'm not going anywhere."

Reio let go, crying into Sam's chest. He rubbed her back and whispered softly to her. Reio was so bottled up that it took a while for her to calm down.

"Ok," Reio sighed, leaning back to look up at him. "I'm ok now."

Sm led her to the bed and sat her down before pulling up a chair in front of her. He never let go of her hands. Reio was thankful he hadn't, it helped to keep them from shaking.

"Sam," Reio kept her eyes on their hands. "I need to tell you something."

Sam remained quiet, letting Reio gather her courage.

"I...I'm pregnant."

Sam's face lit up. "Really? That's amazing!"

His joy was like a knife in her heart. "Sam, I don't know if it's yours."

His smile faded a bit. "Oh. Well how are you going to be able to tell?"

"Remy is going to do a blood test on us to see. He says it will take a couple of days though."

Sam shifted in the chair. "So have you told Rhint?"

Reio hesitated, tears threatening to reappear. "He disappeared. No one knows where he is."

Sam cursed under his breath. "I can't believe he'd abandon you like that."

"It's not his fault. I drove him away." Reio sounded so defeated. "It's my fault he's gone."

Sam cupped her face, making her look at him. "Don't do this to yourself. You need to stay positive."

Reio rested her hands on his forearms. "How can I be positive when I drove away my husband and pregnant with a fatherless baby?"

Sam didn't answer right away. Reio continued before he could.

"You shouldn't even be here. I've broken your heart so many times." Sam reacted before Reio could blink. He pressed her lips to his, keeping them there until they were both light headed.

"I've told you this before, but obviously you didn't listen." Sam smiled against her lips, sending shivers down her spine. "I will stick by you no matter what, even if it hurts. I am hopelessly in love with you, Songbird."

Tears flowed freely as Reio leaned her head against Sam's shoulder. She didn't deserve Sam, but she was thankful for him right now.
