Mary's P.O.V

the best way to go by unnoticed was to act like I was absolutely supposed to be out and about amongst the officials. That I had Dr. Montesinos' card just because I was retrieving something for him, and it would go off without a hitch.

I straightened up and began to walk down the side, desolate hallway to the medical wing. I had never seen the medical wing from outside of a container. I was determined to find out what it was  actually like in there. Except I didn't know where it was or how to get there, but I had to move quickly, wandering around for too long would get people suspicious.

I turned the corner which led me to a stairwell with a sign above, 'Medical Wing' with an arrow pointing up. I trusted it, I followed the sign's instruction. I stormed up the stairs and was greeted by two armed guards, all in black, who stood there silently observing. They were waiting to see if I had access, you couldn't get into the Medical wing without the proper kind. I slid the card between the scanner, an automated voice said, "Access Granted,"as I heard the release of a giant lock, " Welcome Dr. Montesinos." I felt my heart stop, one of the dark men turned to me. "Young lady, why would you have Dr. Montesinos' access card?" Both guards were facing me now. I knew my story, I didn't need to panic. "He needs me to fetch something for him," I said calmly, trying to make eye contact with the face behind the darkened protection surrounding it. "Would you like an escort?" He asked almost challengingly.
"Thank you, sir, but I know where I'm going."
He seemed satisfied, but then he moved closer to me, putting his hand over the handgun on his hip, he whispered "I expect you out in ten minutes." I tried to keep my composure, and finally they let me through.

The halls were small, maybe only two people, side by side, could walk down it together. As far down as I could see, was doors, all labeled as a "Lab." I stopped at the third door I saw, I placed my hand on the knob and pulled. It required most of my strength to get open, and what I saw on the other side was something I remembered vividly, but never from this angle. A young boy , maybe 10 or 12, was strapped to a chair, facing a screen, with a constant commercial, shining in his face

"Welcome, to our beautiful Facility. This particular Facility is a safe environment for you to learn to master your special abilities. We customize our education to your set of skills, no matter how advanced or average they may be. Once we have felt that you have mastered your skill you are free to go, but you must stay until then. We have comfortable rooms in which you will be staying, our doctors will keep careful track of your progress both physical and mental. You will have a schedule and rules that you have to abide by. But you needn't worry, they are nothing too extreme. So a warm welcome from me and the rest of our staff, we do hope you enjoy your stay, at Facility 778."

He was lifeless, hopeless, completely submissive. I remembered this, when I was 13, I remembered myself seeing this same message, I don't believe many others did. It was sad to see, but there was nothing I could do to help him, he was long gone now. But under the blasting message, I heard something, a mechanical buzz. To my left there was a large screen, with a console beneath it. I pressed the home button and a female voice spoke "Enter Your Access Card." I placed the card over a small scanner on the corner. "Thank You Doctor."

Patients, was in bold print along the top of the screen. Listings upon listings of numbers, going up and down the screen. All of the numbers a person. I found myself clicked and accessed the file.

Seeing the names of my family on that screen almost brought me to tears. I missed them so much, I missed mom so much, I missed Casey like hell, I missed dad.

In the corner of the screen there was an option to print, I printed my file and a buzz below me sounded. I still had maybe five minutes, I decided to investigate further. I began scrolling, I was looking for one specifically. I finally found it, 7534.
