Marcus POV

Life at our little facility was continuing as normal. Which was just so strange to me. Did no one want to know what happened? Was no one even the slightest bit curious about why it happened? I know I was. The thought of Mary scratched at the back of my mind for weeks. I hadn't seen her since she showed me that sheet, I could barely remember what was on it now. Her orange like eyes haunted me, especially in my dreams. Sometimes if just be in a pit of black, my lungs were burning I couldn't breathe. All I could see through the years in my eyes were hers, Piercing through the darkness.

Eventuall, Shawn had enough of my depressed aloofness and decided to confront me about it one day during lunch.
"I'm sorry, Marcus, but you have to let this go."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh c'mon, that girl," he whispered, "I know you've been thinking about her for weeks now. You really shouldn't be if anything they just moved her to another facility, she's probably fine." For some reason his words sparked a kind of anger in me I hadn't felt before,
"But what if she's not?" I tried to keep myself quiet but it was getting more difficult, "You have absolutely no way of knowing if she is, if anything they fucking killed her," I could feel a fire coming up from the pit of my stomach, "and how can you just sit here and accept that? How can any of you accept that?" I was yelling now, Shawn was trying to keep me calm but I don't remember what he said. "She's gone, she's fucking gone and none of you are the least bit concerned? They have given us absolutely no explanation about what happened and they expect us to just accept that shit! Well I won't I demand answers I demand them now!"
"Marcus" a woman spoke softly to me, "Marcus look at me please," she was dressed in white but she wasn't a doctor, she was escorted by two officials with their hands over the stun guns on their hips, "we will give you the answers you're looking for, if you let him go, step off of the table and come with us."
I looked down and saw my hand gripping onto Shawn's hair, he looked terrified. I was somehow able to bring this tall, stoic figure, that I had called a friend for as long as I knew him, to his knees. I quickly let him go and he scurried away from me. I carefully got down from the table and let myself be escorted away by the officials. I didn't expect that they'd give me real answers, I was sure I'd be joining Mary soon.
