Marcus
Dr. McDermott was panicking. She ripped up the file, stuffed it down the sink and let the water run over it, destroying it. She was mumbling to herself, what it was I didn't know.
There was a sudden heavy knock on the door. It was so loud, sudden, violent. Her face fell, a look of dread overtook it. She approached the door quickly. A figure dressed in black greeted her there.
"Hello Dr. Mcdermott, I'm going to need you to come with me." He was clearly a soldier. "Get that thing too." He gestured toward me.
They pulled me out of the bed, and put me in a wheelchair and started to push me down the long hall. we entered a very small service elevator, which was cramped and hot with all of the bodies crammed in. We descended, and kept descending. Until we were so far down I was certain we were underground.
The silver door opened to reveal a cement head quarters. Men and women dressed in black uniforms, each armed, were doing drills and being assigned to various sections of the facility. One of the Officials in the elevator with us, grabbed Dr.McDermott's arm, she quickly snapped it away, "I can walk," she remarked, "I don't need your assistance." We exited the elevator and I watched as we passed the rows and rows of soldiers waiting for command.
We entered a small dark room, the only light was the light coming off of the security Monitors mounted on the walls. The men guarding Dr.McDermott left her, and went on about their own business, but mine stayed by my side. (yeah stay by the critically injured person, leave the person in complete health unattended) i thought sarcastically to myself. Two people were sitting across from us, a woman and a man, replaying one clip. I had never seen them before, "You called Mr. Williams right?" the woman asked her colleague. "Of course," the man replied turning to her. He noticed us out of the corner of his eye. "Oh, they're here." The woman turned around now as well. Her eyes went up and down both of us, assessing us. "He should be here soon."
They both turned around back to their work, and ignored us for maybe five minutes until another person entered the small room. Mr. Williams. He was presentable, but under it all he was boiling. "Frances, what happened? What did you see?" he wasn't looking at who he was addressing, he was making a dead stare at Dr.McDermott. The woman explained what she saw, she had seen the Doctor take the file away from me and destroy it in the sink.
Mr.Williams turned to the doctor and asked her, "Janet, why didn't you contact me immediately when you knew he had that?" She became flustered, and obviously panicked.
"I just didn't want him to keep looking at it, I didn't know what to do! I swear it wasn't me!"
"I didn't ask if it was you, Janet."
Her eyes fell, she tried to piece together words to defend herself, but Mr. Williams silenced her, "You're fired, take her out," he addressed the soldier by me side, and he obliged. He dragged her out kicking and screaming, but not towards the elevator, but the opposite way, down the long hall.
Mr.Williams then directed his attention toward me. HE smiled, a false smile, "Son, who gave you that file?" He looked at me expectantly, wanting and answer. At first I didn't know what to say, I didn't want to blame Dr. Mcdermott, she was already in enough trouble, but she was already fired, but I didn't think I could successfully lie to Mr. Williams, the head of this facility, and who knows what kind of consequence I could face if I didn't give him an answer. I made my decision, "It was that girl I fought in the arena." His fake smile fell into that of complete anger, he was going to say something else but he was interrupted by someone throwing open the door, sending light pouring in, "What the hell?! There better be a really good reason for you interrupting." The man standing in the doorway was panting, out of breath, "It-its Dr. Montesinos, he-he's dead."
Mr.Williams looked completely dead, his face was blank. After dome time of staring at him, Mr.Williams went to the messenger, leaned into his ear and said, "Bring that bitch to me."
